Never been in a fight before, and now I have...If you count proclaiming your innocence as a overweight irate cyclist in Lycra shorts, showing his minuscule package, lands multiple blows in to you.

The man was cycling with his son as I wheelied past, they were off the road, and the road had no cars on at all. It's a wide 1 mile straight road, with heath land either side and where I always practice. If you came off, you're not going to hit anything.

As I parked up in a gravel lay by next to a car with two people in I suddenly feel a huge blow to the back of my head. As i turn around, the man proceeds to land multiple blows in to me. It's a bit of a blur really, but I never hit him, just pushed him away and told him to calm down.

His justification for assaulting me was his anger in that I put his son in danger. I'm not saying what I did wasn't wrong, but I think what he did was unjustified.

As he walked back to his bike, with me a little shaken and shocked, he said he has my number plate, and the police will be in touch.

There was only one witness in the car next to me, and they very quickly drove off after. If the police do get in touch, can they do me for dangerous driving or such? I don't have any details about the man so can't really report the assault.

Advice would be great, does he have anything against me?

Only he witnessed the wheelie, and independent witnessed the assault. Hope you took a picture, can describe him or find him later.....

But in reality, nothing will come of it. But personally, I would log the assault with the police before he logs the wheelie.

Not really, fat and blue Lycra is all I can remember Crying or Very sad
So, should I deny the wheelie if the police arrive? The witness drove off before I could ask for their testimony.

You had full gear on and were attacked first. You should have leathered him.

I'd already taken my gloves and helmet off, hence why it was kind of painful.

Wow, it takes a real man to punch another in the back of the head Rolling Eyes

People seem to lose brain cells when children are around. To be fair pulling a wheelie can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing but from what you said it was a relatively safe place. Perhaps you could have waited until you were well past crazy Lycra man but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Did he look like he had a camera on him at all? If anything comes of it you could deny knowledge and say that you were assaulted by a cyclist but I think you will be ok.

I have no legal training!

tell old bill you were assaulted first, don't mention the wheelie unless they do.
...and then suggest to them that you had cramp in your hand, which is why your clutch came out a bit rapid and the front end came up, which was of cause also why you stopped, in order to rid your hand of the cramp.
Thumbs Up

Wheelie = I'm sorry officer, I got a twitch and I must have opened the throttle a bit too much after I down shifted.

I was once just sitting next to a motorcycle, a car pulled over and the driver gave me the finger and called me dickhead. He assumed that the MZ150 I was riding that day was the source of the noise and hooliganism. Some people just don't get it Thumbs Up

So you pulled a wheelie and no kittens died.

Your attacker sounds like a total bell end. I'm gonna guess that his real frustrations had nothing to do with your riding, but you presented an accessable target for him to vent on.

I'd ignore the experience unless you see him again in which case.....

Did he leave any marks on you ? if he did, get them photo`d
You cant remember him?, ok? what type of bike was he riding?
What type of bike was his son riding?
Time?
How many times did he hit you?

There are many things you could remember that could put him at the scene of the assault?

Also if he goes to the police, he will then need to tell them that he has hit you.
If he fails to tell them , it may? be seen as manipulating/wasting police time or hiding a crime? possibly? maybe?

This is totally unacceptable, you need to report this to the police ASAP. He will have been on nearby roads and there will be the odd CCTV camera floating around to trace him.

Or find him and dish out your own restorative justice, with a bat.

Am I the only person that thinks that is quite a good result Laughing I'd rather have some prick harmlessly bash my helmeted head around a bit than have him report my antics to the police, however unlikely it is they'd be able to do anything.

I would have shown his son why you don't fuck with someone wearing a full face helmet, armoured gloves and boots.

I''ve checked the relevant statues, done a quick skim for case law, and my considered opinion is:

https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5162/5218019233_69f1dc8d14.jpg

Rest assured, the pedalist will be quivering in his lycra and expecting every knock on his door to be Dibble coming to do him for ABH.

All part of life's rich tapestry, next time maybe consider that other people are not just bit part players in your narrative.

Had an issue with cyclist saying i did a burn out to annoy them after they had a go for me using function 11 of my horn (blind bend). Cops cam round and said the cyclist was in the wrong.

any how ask for evidence, should shut down the issue fairly quickly

Thanks for the replies, i'm not so worried about police action at least!
I wish i'd have had my helmet and gloves on when he hit now...
He didn't really hurt me, and I suppose it's something to laugh about.

To be fair, it's probably for the best I didn't fight back. I'm sure i'd end up in a worse position when a witness testifies I beat up a middle aged bloke!

Lycraman shows no mercy Evil or Very Mad

it'll not come to anything i dont think, its his word against your about the wheelie, and theres a witness to your assault. if he does go to the police then you counteract it by letting them know.

he'll be dossing himself in if he dosses you in!

How old was the mans son out of interest? If below 10 then i'm not overly surprised it happened.

Any decent father will protect their kid from any perceived threat. You have to remember that to a non biker, a wheelie looks highly dangerous and ridiculously unstable! Doing it next to someones kid and your asking for trouble to be honest.

I can see why the man got angry and pissed off but to hit you is a disgrace. Like someone else said, a wheelie does seem irresponsible to some people. Phone the police, file a report and get photos of bruises/ cuts. Was his child there when he was hitting you? if so, what example does that show to him?!

You may wan't to change your post. Remember how you we're just riding down the road normally? Within the speed limit? Yes? and you got completely randomly attacked by a cyclist.
