Hi all, i need to change my address on my V5. Do i have to send it to the dvla? is there any other way i can do it as we all know how good they are with keeping track of paperwork i would prefer not to send it to them.

Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Benn

Do you "really" need to change it. They say you do but I'd think about it. I'd have the V5 to tax it, I'd have the insurance cert and MOT to tax it. Only thing that goes there is speeding fines Laughing

For the V5, you are somewhat at their mercy.

For your driving licence, the DVLA have a well known habit of losing motorcycle entitlements... previously you'd need to lose your licence so that you can re-find it when they send it back broken. If however you change your details online, you agree to send the old licence in, but they don't seem to care if it never arrives (postal problems of course).

Sorry, that's a send-off. A V62 replacement costs £25 and can't involve a change of address.

Get at least a free Certificate of Posting, although I'm sending stuff Recorded Delivery now, for Reasons.

I take a back and front photocopy of anything that has to be sent off to their abyss of an office. Moving myself in a month or two, insurance expires in a month though so got the prospect of getting raped on their fee's for an address change unless i tell a few porkies about the date i move in Rolling Eyes

My car an bike V5s were filled out by the wife (her writing is neater than mine) and sent in the same envelope

Bike one arrives, car doesn't
Phone them up to find its been sent to another house on our street but they wont tell me which due to data protection

I've sent my bike one off for change of colour but they just sent a new one with no changes made!
