I'm racing again, Saturday only this time.

Along with TVRs and the UK pickup truck championship (which seems to be nascar on a budget).

For the first time this season I haven't got rid of the tickets... I have one hospitality and two standard access if anyone wants a free day out...

Thanks! I'll need it this time - huge wall on the way into the straight, likely wet friday and saturday...

<edit> adding that the civic cup and production golf GTis are gonna be there. May entice someone from Essex, but be warned there's no under car illumination allowed on track...

Wow, really can't give em away...

I was testing yesterday and got to see the place for the first time. Stunning facility, just can't figure out why they built it in the middle of nowhere.

I guess it's kind of in the middle of the country so it can be reached by a lot of people? I've done quite a few trackdays there on the bike but never the car and some of the layouts are much more fun than others. Which one are you using?

By the way, I've heard that it is unusually slippery in the wet...just to worry you Laughing

Dunno what the fuck's going on this weekend, it's seriously weird just how many invites/events I've had to turn down (not including this). Sounds like it's the same for everyone else.

Obviously something about the date Laughing

Shame people missed it... I could've made a fool of myself in front of some invited guests too.

Caterham want ~£3500 to repair the chassis, if I do some of the labour myself I mate save ~£2000. Lots of work ahead - didn't look too bad and I still finished 13th.

Depends on how far you want to go.

On any other, virtually brand new car, you would want it perfect, but this is a racer and it's going to get bent again, so it's probably not worth that level of effort and expense.

I doubt if it's practical, given the distance between us, but I'm confident I could arrange for that to be made structurally good and cosmetically acceptable, for under a grand.

One of the championship rules is that all chassis repairs are done by caterham. I don't need it perfect, by any means, but there's no other option than to get there chassis guys on it.

They chop the rear chassis (basket) and graft a new one on. If I get them to do it then its 14hrs labour just to strip it and then put it back together again. Then it needs transporting, then the actual repair done, then the cosmetic work...

Seems like they've done a pretty good deal then, they've got it all sewn up.

Save yourself some money next season and go for a championship that's more open.

I've finally had enough time at lunch to cut the videos together and produce the race highlights...

Enjoy https://youtu.be/8kp5Mru1_Xk

And any suggestions for a track to cover the wind noise with? I normally prefer rock / metal, but it all seems a bit ott with the visuals...
