Today I picked my 500 up from sheffeild

Ok it IS restricted too good o'l 33BHP but dam its quick in comparision too the 125's I have previously ridden

I have never ridden something that when you pull the throttle it instantly accelerates into the direction you are pointing it!

Personally I would reccomend to anyone here who is thinking of upgrading too do so! as gone are the days where you have to go through 5 gears to hit 60 when you can reach it in 2 and its much smoother on the way there.

Basically it scares the shit out of me!

before you people with litre sports bikes rain on my parade, please not I have never ridden such a machine before!

I know exactly how you feel. I went from a 125 scooter to my 600 commuter. Fast enough man! And the acceleration is a blast. Smile Don't really care it's not a gixxer-thou. Would love a Kwak Z1000 though. Mr. Green Enjoy your 500 mate. Thumbs Up

Just wait 'til you get closer to 100 rear-wheel horsepower. Wink

Eventually you won't be scared by what the bike can do, but more so what the law might do if they catch you doing whatever it is that you do. Rolling Eyes

Glad you're enjoying it Dodsi, they are great fun even restricted.

I have a CBR1000F which is pretty damn quick and I love, but my Son has a restricted ER5, and I've ridden it, in many ways I prefer riding it to my CBR, its lighter, easier to handle, nimbler etc, but it still goes quite well, it doesn't have the arm-wrenching power of my CBR, but as you say, you open the throttle and it goes OK.

I've had 85 out of Andrews no prob at all, and I am a serious lard-arse. and acceleration is respectable. I LOVE IT Cool

My bike is an ER-5

I have taken it too over 90 allready and 80mph comes very quickly!
overtaking should not be a problem.

funnyest thing was these kids were egging me on too accelerate away from the lights like a madman, so what did i do? accelerated away normally and slowly!

And keith, you are welcome to be a test pilot for me!

Enjoy it, won't be long before you're used to the acceleration and want those restrictors out.

Its worth it just for the comfort and hadleing, the acceleration is quite scarey at first, when you feel the front end lifting up and your ass slideing allong the seat further back while the wind rushed at your face complete with the stupidest grin you ever had... manic laughter is optional but quite satisfying...

Enjoy your new bike Smile I suggest you go for a mini adventure on it, take a weekend to take it to scotland or devon, take pictures and report your findings Very Happy

Have fun Wink

Lol, I remember when I went from 125 to 500 on my DAS. Boy what an eye opener when I first opened up that throttle.

Then when I passed I got the FZR, Boy what an eye opener when I first opened up that throttle. Laughing
