Evening all

It would seem i've finally reached the NCB/age/nonsensical point in time the bike insurers have decided to stop raping me and give half reasonable quotes after nearly 7 years riding Rolling Eyes So far i've only ever been TPFT due to the cost but this year its a lot more affordable to go FC by the looks of things.

However the best quote has [although i offered no additional excess on the form] added a 500 pound voluntary excess, BUT it comes with 'free excess protection'. Has anyone had this included before - wondering if it covers the entire excess' or just the additional forced 500 so called voluntary excess they've bundled in Rolling Eyes

Then we have the TPFT quotes

To date i've been with bikesure TPFT mainly just as it was cheapest, but this year 3 insurers i've never heard of are the top 3 - anyone had dealings with these before, i'd imagine ultimately the bottom line is all insurers are out to rob you essentially, but just a bit apprehensive about going with a group i've never heard of Thinking

Thanks all Karma Praying

I'd expect that excess cover to just cover the voluntary excess and you'll still have to pay the compulsory. Ring them to be sure. Can't hurt.

BUT I'd go for TPFT and save 110 quid

I'd still go TPFT myself as I'd not claim my bike if it was damaged, will cost too much with excess and future premiums and I could fix it for alot cheaper.

The top 3 are hardly the top 3 when 4th is only £2 difference Razz

Personal experience is to go with a big name so I'm secure when it comes to having to actually dealing with them and claims etc. Would not like to go through a claim with a smaller insurer or one not many people have heard of, not a big confidence booster when it comes to a claim!

Isn't "excess protection" that scam where you have an insurance policy to cover an enormous excess?

I cba to dig it up, but last time it appeared it seemed like a massive con.

Are you quite young? Most of your quotes don't have ride other bikes, I've had that since I was 21.

This is true, did the quotes late last night obviously didn't look closely at the time Rolling Eyes , and the 4th includes breakdown so that'll be a definate winner i think if i go FC.

The past 3 years [all TPFT as FC was near double Shocked ] i paid something around , 400, 600 and 800 pounds a year Evil or Very Mad I suppose in terms of percentage this years drop isn't that great TPFT but the FC price has plummited at least Neutral

Will look into it more, going to give them a ring later and get them to confirm what it actually does/doesn't cover, thanks for the info

I'm nearly 24, only just got offered riding other bikes with bikesure last year, and it seems they're the only ones willing to offer it again this year too Thumbs Down still for the sake of 100-200 quid savings possibly i'd happily not have it included if i have to Thumbs Down

Thanks for the comments all Karma
