It's a 1980 Honda XL 250sa. The mudguard it has now is a bit on the rough side and for the amount of sanding it needs to be presentable and paintable I thought it might be cheaper and simpler to buy another one, but I'm having a little trouble sourcing something that looks the part. It's a pretty big, chunky mudguard so I don't want to put a skinny modern-style one on there.
This is the closest match I've found - I guess it's the same size:

£30 inc p&p but it's secondhand so I'm wondering if a new one might be around the same price. |

Why not a skinny one?
They often work better as they get less clogged up with mud etc.
Seem to be plenty of chuny ones here:

I used to have the XL250SA and when I needed a new front mudguard I looked at the standard type and went for a Preston Petty type in the end.But that was a few years ago now.But the standard bike looked like this
