Hi, just joined the forums & as well as introducing myself (Dan) and my bikes (in sig, will sort that in a second...) I have a question to throw out there...

Has anyone ever heard of/owned/seen etc a Yamaha XJ750E-II?
Yes, I know there's lots of XJ750's & 900's out there Razz but specifically the 29R model E-II.

I just bought the bike recently as an "XJ750" and on doing a bit of research trying to get stuff like air filter, oil filter, carb parts & the like it turns out the bike is a JDM only model that was made only in 1983, and basically is an uprated 5N1 motor (bigger valves/lumpy cams/crank slightly different/749cc not 748cc) fitted to a 31A rolling chassis... Nobody seems to have heard of the bike let alone seen one before (apart from a couple of guys in NZ, who don't own one anymore).

So my question is, has anyone here got any other info. on this bike? Have I unwittingly bought the only one of these in the UK? Surely someone's heard of the bugger? Shocked

Cheers, Dan.

Hi just been reading your thread on the Yamaha forum. Its great when you buy a bike that is scarce as rocking horse shite .....

Look after it ...... I got a VF1000 a few weeks back and already been offered a thousand quid more than I paid for it. in fact been offered for the reg plate more than I paid for the bike .

Watch out for that fairing.

On the original 900, they retro fitted a frame mounted item and made it a standard fitment, after people complained about terminal high speed wobbles.

My mate's dad had a 900 that shape, back in the day, and it was a dark, almost black, green. That looked cool.

Like the sound of that, the guy who painted it, painted commercial air-planes, so it looks good from a distance.

Omnomnom! Mr. Green

I know someone who has done approximately 300,000 miles on their XJ900. They are truly bulletproof machines. She's not exactly tall so the bike has been heavily modified to fit her. I'll see if I can find a photo...

edit: Photo (not her...she's a bit camera shy):

The painter, sprayed over all the decals which you can see when close up. so can see the type of colour scheme it originally had but not the colours??

Don't think it is the same as the RD, quite a bit bigger IIRC, different shape and rectangular headlight.
