Fuck that!

Was hoping for better but certainly wasn't expecting it.

IPhone 5C is finally a good idea for them... at least for short term profits (can get into the Chinese market).

Yeah it's last year's model with new colours and barely any cheaper.

Personally it doesn't temp me back to iOS but I'm interested in seeing benchmark tests and how useful the Touch ID thing is.

We are stupid and will buy any crap.

Transatlantic pricing has been the same forever, computer hardware and consoles are another thing that ignores exchange rates , if something is $99 we usually get it for £99.

Those price differences for the 5c are just unbelievable, I bet they will be changed but they won't be in line with inflation that is for sure, worth noting it says when you read the notes it says those prices on th us site are for qualified customers, so the full retail may be more.

It could just be a ploy from apple, they show it at a stupid price then when they drop it to £99 and £199 we think we are getting a bargain even though we are still being ripped off.

Usually utter the classic "import taxes" line.

The American prices are contract prices. They pay those prices for the handsets on top of the monthly costs. They are still much cheaper over there of course.

I think the fingerprint thing is a good idea, sort of, until the day comes when you home button breaks, which it will.

As has been said already, the US prices are with contract, the UK are sim-free. Of course there's a difference!

The taxes are something to consider - US prices are always quoted without tax, which varies from state to state but is often around 10%

So there price is more like $110 and ours should be £75 on contract if it were equal pricing. But then, there is the increased import tax, which probably adds another 20% to the wholesale price, so make it just over £80. In comparative terms that's US price of $110 vs UK of $130.

My phones due for renewal now so I've been watching the new iPhone and also the samsung Note 3. This has pretty much made my mind up that I'm ditching my old iPhone and getting a samsung.

My 4S contract is up next month, so I'll be just putting it on a much cheaper tariff. There's nothing being offered on a phone (by anyone, at any price) that does something different that I want, and can't actually think of anything that they could add to a phone that would make me moist and start waving my money around.

Check out giffgaff if they can't offer you a decent deal, in fact just mention giffgaff. Using this tactic I got my mother on a £5 p/m rolling contract and a free phone (some touch screen Nokia thing).

Aye, Giffgaff have 250 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited data for £12, but I reckon I could probably get by on 100 minutes, 50 texts and 500Mb data easily, so I've some shopping around to do.

When you see a US price it does not include tax.

UK prices always include tax.

I went to the states once and prices in the shops don't include it. America is like a giant Makro.

I'd love to see a respectable battery life make a return.

I do own one of those portable mobile telephone machines but mine cost £15 secondhand; the top version of the IPhone 5S is over £700 to buy outright. Why would anyone spend so much on a phone? That's more than I spent on my desktop PC.

I'm in exactly the same scenario with my 4, I've just sent off for a giffgaff sim. No idea what the network coverage is like where I live but it's got to be better than Three.

Just need to get the phone unlocked now and get my pac code.

£700 is more than I spent on my bike, I've had that since 2007 and it's still worth what I paid for it now, what is an iphone going to be worth in 6-7 years?

For most people that is a couple months rent/mortgage or a whole years car insurance ffs.

wont be touching that joke of a iphone but i will be getting rid of my samsung galaxy s4 for a samsung galaxy note 3 as soon as its out in 2 weeks.

I have 80gb (16gb on board and 64gb micro sd card) on my s4 and i have run out of space!
I use the space for movies and music mostly such as i like having the whole 3 seasons of game of thrones, the wire, and many others in HD on my phone hence no space.
The HD version of Avatar alone is 3.5gb on my phone.
For me my phone is a mini laptop.

The iphone series of phones just cant live up to my wants! (wishes we could go back to the simple days of when a phone just rang and texted and nothing else............choice spoils us)
