 |
|
Insurance is due for renewal next week
First time FC has been remotely affordable, i'm looking at
£276 FC or £159 TPFT
Just wondering how worthwhile FC insurance actually is now days in BCF's opinion.
Presuming i don't ride like a tit and end up being clearly at fault, would likely accidents like someone else hitting me/blindly pulling out and so on mean TPFT and the subsequent claims assistance people i could goto/insurance would offer claim back similar damage-costs with TPFT that i'd get off a FC policy anyway
The bikes value is somewhere between 3-4k, so on the face of it for an extra £120 its tempting to go FC for 'peace of mind', but i don't know if thats just me putting faith in it being worth the paper its written on |

If you have £3-4K to chuck at a new bike if it gets mashed in a 'your fault' crash then go TPFT if not then FC. ____________________ W-ireless A-rtificial L-ifeform L-imited to O-bservation P-eacekeeping and E-fficient R-epair |

How much does claiming on your own insurance for a new bike tend to up your next premium? Just out of interest... ____________________ Left the forum. |

Do a couple of insurance quotes with a 4 grand fault claim on and however many less no claims you will have and see the price difference, times this by 5 and add the excess and the £100 for FC insurance.
Then take off the payout you are likely to get, so lets say £3000?
When you write off your bike the "real world" loss is unlikely to be more than half the value of the bike, whether you decide to fix it with second hand parts or to part out the good bits that are left.
So does the value you added up come to more than 2 grand? If so, it's probably not worth ever claiming on your bike. ____________________ Current Bikes:Honda 929RR Fireblade, Honda CD200 Benly (Project), Stomp Z2 140

I ran a quote for smashing up £300,000 worth of car and my insurance is still under £1k for a car.
Yet I have an unsettled claim and £5k+

Think golgarth hit the nail on the head can you afford to chuck your bike down the road and get nothing back ?
At least if your fc your going get money to get a new bike etc and/but pay for it over a period of time...
Bit like a loan or paying outright if you have the cash to replace then go tpft or if you cant then fc ??
