PostPosted: 12:17 - 13 Sep 2013    Post subject: Urbano Tucano Muffs - Which ones? Reply with quote

Ello' all

With the cold air already starting to freeze my hands and my winter gloves being too bloody small (anyone fancy a nearly new set of Knox Outdrys XS?) Laughing

I think I need some warm furry muffs. Razz

To fit my Kawasaki GT750, no bar end weights and has mirror stalks at the usual place on the bars (rather than fairing or otherwise).

Been trying to work it out from the photos etc but I'm unsure, don't want to be spending £50 on the wrong thing.

Thanks!

R360 for non bar end one.

Best purchase I've made for cold weather riding.

I think it is R319 if you want the big furry ones, rather than the neoprene.

Didn't have any issues with the neoprene ones, they are fluffy inside.

I have R361 (Neoprene, bar ends) - I found using the indicators f'king irritating for the first few days but then they loosened up a bit and I got used to it.

(Although I'm sure when I re-fit them later this year I'll be equally irritated by them to start with...)

I'll never get textile ones again, neoprene wins all round.

Cut the thumb bit out that gets in the way(just the inside part, not the whole thumb)...they'll still be amazing at keeping your hands warm and less annoying

Do any of you with these muffs take them off every time you park for work? I don't part in the worst place, but it is a public area and it is London and I'd rather not have these nicked if I get a pair.

Are they easy to take off every time you park up for the day? Or are they that difficult to do that nobody would nick them?

Swop the screws that come with the textile ones on the cross straps, for bolts & nyloc nuts.

The Tucanos are cable ties on to the actual grip. I left mine on for 5 months and park in the centre of town.

Textile for me.

The tucano are rigid enough to hold their shape against the wind and I dont have any issues using the controls as there isn't a layer of neoprene in the way. Also, i can still operate my main beam and pass light, which looks challenging with the other type.

If you search for the review I wrote, you will find that I was and still am very impressed by them.

Nah, I left my bike parked up in the West end with muffs fitted every day last winter with no problems. They're not hard to pinch, but people don't seem to bother.

Getting a set of these for the F650 Dakar. I've got hand guards on so they need to go over them.

Well the muffs arrived yesterday and I fitted them to the bike, fairly easy no real dramas.

Only thing I'd say is that the metal ring that goes over your handle bars stops you from pulling the brake or clutch lever right back to the bar, not that on my bike I need to do that either to change gear or put the brakes on full.

Pissing rain this morning and I can happily say my hands remained warm and dry, I was wearing RST summer gloves too.

I think the neoprene is a better idea that the furry ones if your bike sits outside as the neoprene muffs will not soak in the water overnight if they're sitting out.

Easy to use the controls too. Brilliant piece of kit Thumbs Up

Is it possible to use all controls in neoprene ones?

I can imagine indicators but what about horn and passlight?
