Hello

Turns out my headlight isnt great. it even turns off every now and then for no apparent reason so i have to keep it on main beam which seems to be ok (seperate bulb)

im guessing its a loose/dirty connection so will take the oppertunity to upgrade it. i see HID bulbs and HID kits... can i just replace the bulbs straight swap or do i need the kit??

assume i have to remove the fairing to get to the bulbs?

cheers

Hi

It is a single bulb with 2 filaments. First guess would be that the dip beam filament is on its last legs (when they break they can sometimes catch back on the rest of the filament again and weld themselves on to start working again).

If you look under the headlight there is a small access panel held on with 4 bolts. Take this off and you have enough space to change a headlight bulb (just).

All the best

Keith

I had an 80w/100w bulb in my ZZR600E9 for a while. This does make a significant improvement on the headlight and never melted anything.

The only issue I had with it was I blew a couple of fuses when this was used in combination with my heated grips. It shouldn't cause any problems if there's nothing like heated grips installed though.
