Evening all, I want to change my front indicators on my zx6r over to some led type ones. I've bought some cheapy ebay ones but when fitting them they flash way too fast (a bit like when a bulb is blown). How can I slow the rate of flashing down? Do I need a resistor or something?

Resistor is a wasteful but acceptable way to do it. Better is to fit an electronic relay. They can be bought from bike shops or eBay for £5-10.

My personal preference is the electronic relay (also dubbed an LED relay) as that way you can mix and match bulbs and indicators and never worry about wattage again.

Depends on the type of relay. A lot of bikes have an indicator relay that isn't just a relay.

You can tell by the connectors to it. If there is only two wires to it, you can swap it. if it has more than that, the only resonable solution is resistors.

I seem to remember using an electronic relay on my 3 pin XJ600.

I have a 95 zx6r and led indicators.

I had to fit resistors and a relay, no resistors = all 4 indicators flashing at the same time left or right selected, this is because the warning lamp is wired across the left and right indicator circuits and does not have its own ground wire, it uses the non flashing side as a ground, leds use so little power the current pulled by the warning lamp ground wire is enough to light the side you dont want to be lit, even with the resistors the flash rate was stupidly fast, a new relay specifically for leds fixed that though and now it is all good.

Thanks for all the advice, will order up a new relay and some resistors and have a play around. Either that or i'll bin the bloody things and use hand signals instead Laughing
