I'm having a really strange problem with the generator on the GN.

I've tried 3 regulators (GN125, RS125, TZR125)
I've tried replacing the stator coil

I get 60v to 80v between the three phase ouputs. Resistance readings for the stator coil are also within spec.

Out of the regulators I get enough power to light a tail light bulb, BUT it's extremely bright at very low rpm near stall (1000 ish) but very dim at anything above.

System under test is separate from the rest of the bike electrics, all of that is running from the battery and an external power pack. I'm testing soley the three phase system and regulator with a bulb and/or multimeter (I have two and an RCL).

Any ideas?

I'm not that sure I reading it right, but maybe the regulator needs a battery connected to operate correctly, after all the regulator varies it's output depending on the batteries charge state.

That's an interesting point. I've just been doing some load tests on the principle that switching regs have a minimum required load, but these don't appear to be switching regs. I'm going to run a few more tests and see what sort of results I get with different loads and configurations.
