Akito Motorcycle Gear - Specifically Gloves - Opinions?

So, I'm on the lookout for a decent pair of winter gloves as riding to work wearing my £25 RST gloves was not pleasant (fingers in pain my the time I arrived).

After a quick look on the net, I have found these:

Akito Station Waterproof Motorcycle Gloves.

I know they're only £35 so not likely to be the best in the world so I'm just seeing if anyone on here has any experience with these, or even just the brand.

I have had a quick look in the BCF archives and have found mixed reviews of their stuff but nothing specifically about these gloves.

Any opinions would be appreciated.

To be honest, for £35 I doubt they will be much of an improvement and very much doubt they will be waterproof.

My Akito stuff wasn't waterproof.

Buy gloves by going to your local bike shop and finding ones that fit, rather than guessing off the internet. Easier to take them back when they leak, too

In my experience you really do get what you pay for with waterproof gear, goretex and its (few) equivalents cost a lot and keep you dry.

How long is your commute? Id expect even cheap gloves to keep you dry for 15 minutes, if its an hour then look at upping the budget a bit.

As for brands, buffalo seem ok for budget gear, I don't remember my buffalo gloves being particularly leaky, though they did pong a little.

I had a set when I first started biking. They wore out within about 8 months. Waterproof for the first couple of weeks.

My Akito VForce leather jacket and trousers have never leaked not once however I've never tried any of their other gear.

Another £5 gets you a pair of Tucano Urbano muffs. Do the smart thing.

My commute is around 15 miles (20 during last winter as I took a different route due to flooding/ice etc) so it's not a huge distance.

To be honest my current gloves are waterproof enough, it's just the cold thats bothing me; I would get into work and be in pain because my fingers were so cold.

I'm now thinking Rogerborgs muff suggestion may be the best option however rediculous they look.

Bought an Akito 1 leather piece suit 2 years ago and it's still going strong. Plus it only cost me £20. Don't know about their waterproof stuff though.

I think the muff idea is the avenue to explore. They seem to come highly recommended. Plus if you wear your summer gloves, you wont lose the feeling of the controls compared to a big set of winter ones.

Get the muffs!

In mid winter when its pishing it down you'll be glad that your hands are warm and dry and won't give two shits about what it looks like.

I just ordered the neoprene urbano tucano muffs and they don't look too bad either imo. Will report when they arrive.

My only experience of Akito stuff was some of their waterproof trousers. Which were not even waterproof for a month.

For winter gloves I like and swear by the 3 finger (lobster claw type - Zoidberg). Also labelled as 2 finger gloves if you want to google.

There are lots available now, some quite cheap.
I'm sticking with my original find of Hein Gericke Pathan (now £50 - they're sometimes cheaper in the regular HG 'sales')

I have the M&P Buffalo and they're good. Except I also have an old pair of HG Pathan and they're just a bit better fit around the cuff and a tad warmer. IMHO the Buffalo ones are well worth £20 though.

Have now ordered a pair of the Tucano Urbano muffs as they seemed pretty reasonably priced and people on here tend to rave about muffs.
