Hello all

On the 16/09/13 at approximately 7:30am. A Navy Nissan Qashqai travelling south on St. Mary Cray High Street (B258) hit me of my motorcycle and didn’t stop. Evil or Very Mad (just next to the Blacksmiths lane bus stop). The driver left behind the offside wing mirror cover of their vehicle and now has a bare wing mirror.

If you have any information on the driver please contact me! Police CAD REF 1350 If the driver is apprehended due to information you give me I'll give a £50 reward. Thank you (You'll have to take my word here)

My chances of catching the perpetrator seem unlikely, so can anyone recommend a cheap automatically recording camera for my motorcycle? Thanks Smile

don't suppose you had the good fortune to have any identification marks etched on the mirror?

The police identified it as 2010, so maybe 2010 or newer. They took it with them as evidence.

The time of the incident suggests that the driver may be commuting to work. If you can, wait there between 7 and 8 to see if appears. Have a pen and paper handy to jot the registration number if you get lucky.

Glad you're alive. Had a hit and run myself not so long ago albeit in tamer circumstances.

Hope you get the individual concerned.

I was in London to visit my girlfriend, I actually live in Suffolk. I am so angry that I am considering going back tomorrow morning to see if I can find them!!

yeah, I've been knocked off in a rush hour hit and run, and to add insult to injury about 30 cars drove around me pinned under my bike and didn't stop to help

The exact same thing happened to me in Bradford with at least 4 CCTV cameras pointing at the incident,

When i called the police on 101 and gave them all the details and told them that i was not injured they told me it was a CIVIL matter only and they would not try and catch the bloke that in my eyes performed a HIT and RUN.

No matter how hard i tried to explain that i wanted them to do something they were not interested unless i was hurt. To say i was pissed off would be an understatement.

Next time i get knocked off my bike i will be up on my feat ASAP and WILL be taking the law into my own hands as i tried the politically correct route last time only to be fucked over by the car driver and then shortly after by the police.

I lost even more faith in the police service (system) that day.

OP, So the police are actively doing something to catch the guy?

Looks like I'm not the only one then. The police took my details but I don't think they are making any effort at all to catch the bloke. Looks like having CCTV on your bike is the only way to avoid this. Shocked

If it's any condolences some bitch did this to me on monday. She hung about for a few seconds debating whether to stop and then decided to piss off.

Luckily the ZZR got away with just a broken brake lever and I've just got some muscle pain and a scraped knee.

I blame GTA 5.

Go and have a look for CCTV yourself.

Request to see it yourself.

Hassle the police if they insist the police do it.

This.

You can make a Data Subject Access Request under the Data Protection Act 1988. Costs a tenner at the most. Thumbs Up

You on Twitter? Might be worth composing a Tweet to get the word out there some more... colour coded wing mirrors are quite expensive to replace and rather difficult to find in scrapyards when the car is fairly new, so they might be driving around for a while without...

Even if someone is hurt, in London, plod is useless and unbelievably bad. My father was run over and left unconscious with a head wound in the street. The offender walked over from their vehicle, took a look at his unconscious, elderly body with blood running into a pool on the road and then used their vehicle to make a getaway.

Fortunately, there was at least one reliable eyewitness (in a profession which relies on observation!), multiple CCTV cameras on the street, reg plate description etc... However, the police did nothing and were beyond useless. The Met sent the hit-and-runner a letter and frankly, what's the point?

When my elderly, frail father recovered, he refused to give me the reg plate and description which is probably all for the best in the long run.

However, the reason hit-and-runners do this is because they can get away with it. If the law is unenforced, then the law effectively does not exist. Hit and run with impunity is the message the police are sending out and motorcyclists in London are bearing the brunt of this.
