Took the general advice of the BCF collective earlier this year and bought a Clio Sport 172 for a trip to the 'ring. (Went with brother who smashed himself up pretty badly in the French Alps, so no more biking for him).

It has:-
Far too much engine for a shopping trolly chassis.
Costs hideous amounts for servicing. Needs the best (expensive) tyres to handle properly.
Will only run properly on the most expensive petrol, which it gulps like an alcoholic.
Only makes sense on twisty roads at illegal speeds.
Noisy.
'Normal' people ask why have I bought it, I could get such a nice ****** for that kind of money.
I actually find myself going out for a ride, sorry, drive just for the hell of it.

There is more, but I think you can see where I am coming from.

So, I vote a Renault Clio Sport as being an honorary motorcycle, anyone else with any nominations?

They are great little cars though. Above all they make you grin and that's worth the price in my book.

Renault do some really good hot hatches, even the Megane is good.

I have the clio 182 & it does make me smile, especially as you say, on the nice twisty roads. I bought it from new & it has been worth every penny in my eyes Smile

I tend to drive the clio way faster that my little cbr 125, but am working on that. Mod 1 passed, just waiting on a date for MOD 2, then hopefully a slightly bigger bike to take the twisties a little quicker!!

130i. Sounds like a bike, goes (nearly) like a bike, turns on the throttle like a bike.

Shame it weighs 1.5 tonnes and does 25mpg. Sad

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

And all variants thereof, the flakier the more bodged together the better.

Mine had a plywood body. Thumbs Up

For the full honorary bike it has to be an Aerial Atom. Still t emits exhilarating car I have ever driven.

Having had both a 172 Clio and an R26 Megane I can concur that Renault do indeed make a cracking hot hatch. The only FWD car I've had that is in the same league is the JCW Mini I have now.

The 172 was a pig on cheap rubber though.

Mazda RX8, lives for revs. Does 10-20 mpg, then something goes wrong. If it was a bike, it would be a Ducati.

Drove one of these - think it was the standard 300bhp one on a track day.

Fuck knows why they thought "Hmmm.. lets add a supercharger!" so it produced 500bhp instead Laughing Only time a car (or vehicle in general) has ever properly scared me.

My MX5 is pretty bike like. Fast and fun, uncomfortable and impractical, only seats two, bugger all load space and uses far too much fuel for the size and weight of the thing. I wouldn't want to have a crash in it either.

I've had a few of these over the years, and would have another in a heart beat if i could afford one (a decent one).
In my opinion the best hot hatch from the 80's/90's, and it was back when French cars werent the unreliable things they are now.

For the superbikes:
Radical RXC:
https://www.gtspirit.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/2013-Radical-RXC-at-Autosport-International-2013.jpg

Of course, you want the v8 option.

But then, you might as well do it properly and go properly fast:

Same idea, but a little more 'pure' - and you can get second hand ones for less than a new upper range Mondeo.

Renault Spyder? That daft thing with the windscreen that lifts up and down. Failing that I'd go with the Atom, Caterham or maybe a TVR Cerbera.

This.

Out of all my cars this is the only one that could genuinely hold its own against bikes and on the autobahn would leave bikes behind no problem. It also handled superbly and hid its weight very well. Fooking loved that car. Want the twin turbo V8 M5 next Thumbs Up
