When cleaning out my seat storage i lifted the cover to the carburetor and saw this

[See attachment]

It looks like the air filter has only been half on attached to the carburetor, i dont no how this happened and i dont no how long its been like that as my bike has always been the same.

Is it ok to unscrew the air filter and slide the filter onto the carburetor and then screw the air filter back on?

Make sure that wiring isn't rubbing on it though.

It looks like it is broken and needs replacing, hard to tell when the OP uses a potato cam.

Yeah just realign it and screw the gripping metal fastener thing back on tightly.

It is strange how it's so misaligned though.

Thanks and yeah i wondered that too but the bike didn't have any noticeable change in running of it so i didn't need to check under the cover but i just checked under while cleaning to see whats their.

You might want to check the engine side of the carb as well. If that's not attached properly as well or its a corrosion issue then you could get air bleeding into the inlet port. Someone else on the forum had this and it would cause his engine to keep running on when he was closing the throttle.

Looks like someone's had the carb off. The throttle cable looks to be the wrong side of the loom and they didn't line up the airbox rubber properly when they put it back on.
Just re-fit the rubber, line up the clip and route the loom so it's not bending the throttle cable. If any dirt had been ingested there's nothing you can do about it now so it's not worth worrying about.

Maybe, I would say no but others would say yes. Let's agree to disagree if we aren't in agreement about this disagreement.
