Afternoon all,

Been hanging around here for a while but thought I'd open up an account and post.

Currently going through my DAS and got Mod 1 booked in this weekend.

Looking at getting a nice shiny Triumph America once & when I've passed. Been into the local dealer a few times, and that's the bike for me I think.

Meanwhile great forum and I've spent lots of hours reading through the topics.

Good luck mate,

If you are a new rider, get hyperthetical quotes for any new bikes before you decide on what you want. You dont want to end up buying a bike cash & the insurance on HP

Thanks for the welcome guys,

I've already looked around for some insurances and they seem to be reasonable, coming down quick enough once i get some NCB and years experience.

Not ridden a cruiser before, but before I make the purchase I'll go for a test drive.

Finally getting to do the DAS and ride once the good lady relented, but looking forward to getting the two wheels and being ultra cautious as promised.

The America is lighter than a Bandit 650, the seating position looks pretty neutral, and it's a slightly wonky-firing parallel twin rather than a potato-potato.

If I were going to cruise, that's probably the bike I'd look at first.

I'd go down your local dealer and test ride as much as you can before they've had enough of you Laughing i've found many times after months of picture-idolising the reality of various bikes having sat and/or been for a ride on them has totally changed my opinion and i've ended up putting my interests elsewhere.

Especially as a new rider get a good feel for the different styles of bikes you might be suprised at what you like Razz

Thanks Matt,

The unfortunate thing is I am 6ft 5 and big clown feet, sitting on some bikes already I feel overly hunched over and contorted.

Granted that is just in a shop, the "big" school bikes have been comfy enough so far.

Should still find a fair few bikes that aren't cruiser position orientated that should be okay, unless of course you do end up finding they are the best for you anyway.

Try some of the larger touring bikes. With the bikes and your height combined should have a fairly impressive field of vision for city traffic too Razz added bonus.
