it's a '93, 40k miles... handles like a dream, and ridiculously fast. love it. only cost £1200, and has loads of goodies on it! bought it back in January and i'm still getting used to it. it's a massive change from my CBR600...

Plans for it, fit my digital speedo i took off the last CBR, wheels powdercoated white, new C&S, VFR750 front tyre so i can buy the race tyres from the track just up the road for much cheapness, and a good service...

Also need to tidy up the wiring for those lights since i had to solder everything together. bit of taping up etc and they should be fine. 100w bulbs make it a bit interesting mind you.

Then i'll want a different seat unit. thinking about getting a gixxer thou subframe and whapping that on, which would look awesome. Don't want anything that kicks up in the air, at least just now anyway.

Love it so far though. what a bike!

Like the custom end can.
Although you do realise it will identify you as a kitten killer to the boys in blue.

It's loud as hell. it gives a nice growl at low revs, and wails at the higher range....

i've never had a problem with it to be honest, but that's probably because the bikes i ride with are all a tad louder Laughing

So far i've changed the sprockets & chain, and given it a service... and a clean.

I've went and bought a ducati 918 tail unit for it, which now needs painted up. The subframe has been made up to fit the blade, and it's adjustable too!

https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/947229_597449473629320_1986827101_n.jpg

Once that's done (gonna spray it black most likely, so it matches up with the current paint), next up is the front wheel. I've replaced the speedo with my koso DB-01r i had laying around so that's working well...

And a tarty pic.

So that's the tail unit all painted up, ready to fit. Next up is welding together a battery box and something to hold the plate...

Bought some steel plate to weld something up so i'll get on that at the weekend then fit the bloody thing.

My usual attire is leather bottoms with the knee sliders, hoodie and armour under it. Comfy, protective and I prefer it.

The lights will look a lot better once I've got them mounted properly and the new forks put on, but for now, they do get a lot of attention!

It's a decent tail unit, makes the bike looks a lot more aggressive in my opinion.

Not a fan of those headlights either, don't think it suits the bike but the 748 seat unit is an interesting idea.

Why do you need safety gear? unless you intend to crash.

The plate will be under the subframe, closer to the shock

Cheers

So...

I've went and bought:

Samco hoses
VFR750 complete back end (swingarm, wheel, shock etc)
New clutch cable since the one on it is solid
Caliper repair kits as they need stripped down
Neoprene fork savers
Fork seals
Duke 916 tail lights with integrated indies
Motobatt battery
new rear caliper - the one on it is goosed
And a sock for the shock, though i might not bother and just get it powdercoated.

Next thing to do it get the bike completely stripped down, send it all for powdercoating, get the tank and plastics painted, then build it all together again which should be fun!

Cheers,

Dunc

You any brake lines Dunc? Need two at no less than 50cm. If not does Metal Ken keep that kind of stuff? I dont need your risers now thanks. I got a good offer on a set with bars. I have started my makeover. I am looking to bypass the anti-dive units, hence the brake lines. I need to do fork seals so might as well do it all at the same time. I am going to get a pot of Hammerite and make battleship gray then paint the bugger.

BTW. That seat unit. Has it not got your arse sitting a good 4-5 inch lower making it less comfortable on long runs?

So i've been battering away at it again after selling my zzr600.

The main bit of hassle was getting the electrics sorted out. I had some charging issues when i finally got it all in place, and sorted it by wiring an earth directly from the battery to the subframe. For some reason that helped.

So i got the tail sprayed black, connected everything up, and put the tail on securely for the first time.

https://cdn.bikechatforums.com/files/1371285_10201347096273136_566584899_n.jpg

It was then that i realised i hadn't tested the lights.... and then i realised the tail light wasn't working. Yay.

Had to strip it off again and spent a good couple of hours stripping wires, attaching crimps, testing, wiring up, taking apart, more testing and finally got it the right way round. Everything works! it runs!

https://cdn.bikechatforums.com/files/541366_10201351206175881_46926878_n.jpg

Now if anyone was wondering how well those lights i have on it work, here's a couple pics.

This is dipped

https://cdn.bikechatforums.com/files/1236061_10201351206015877_1477324653_n.jpg

And this is high beam. The light isn't focused at the right spot on the road so it's shining over the fence, but you get the picture.

Thumbs Up

Laughing I know it doesn't look quite right. It's the temporary under tray, it's a bit damaged because I'm a heavy handed arse.

It'll be coming off in favour of an underseat exhaust in the very near future.
