Cool story bro.
Be grateful you got a hire bike, to be given one then refuse to use it on the grounds that it's a scooter would be fairly daft. ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.

It's just how it is. They don't respect scooters, even though some of them are actually alright!

I rode a Honda NC700D as my courtesy 'bike' the other week. Fantastic thing, it's a hybrid twist 'n' go, 110mph, actually really rapid on the acceleration. Shows cars that not all scooters are slow. ____________________ Left the forum. |

So,
You usually ride a 125 i'm guessing as the insurers generally give like for like?
You get given a bike with the same size engine, the same top speed and ride on the same roads. The difference being that the tank & engine are under your arse instead of between your legs.
Because of the relocation of the engine/fuel tank it means you should hug the kerb & ride like a cabbage.

Rides bike, cries people abuse him on the road.
Smaller = easier to bully, bully back. Take a mirror or 2. I even had to rate your post as funny as I genuinely laughed, crazy times. |
Look, I'm not crying about anything. The bit I was replying to (somewhat flippantly) was:
| Andyk wrote: | ...the number of times people seem to drive too close etc is shocking is this normal when your on a scooter or just me?.... |
You can sum up my reply as "yes, there are people on the road who assume they are better than a scooter rider and behave accordingly. Same goes with L plates. Come to think of it, some people are just plain assholes about anything on two wheels." That's it. That's all I was trying to say. (And, actually, in hindsight, I agree with S.Hayes93 that this is probably 99% perception and the drivers are just clueless.)
As to take-some-mirrors-out/bully-back/MTFU advice that you see all the time on BCF? I see chips, on shoulders. ____________________ Current: '14 VFR800X Test passed 31/10/12.

Chip on shoulder, me? Possibly left overs from the chippy last night but I have no chips on my shoulder I could not care what any other biker does, nor could I care what any car drivers do.
If someone cuts me up like a cunt, I'll either remove a mirror/open a door/shag their missus etc or ignore if they say sorry. Most apologise.
Some faggot crying about getting a scooter for hire, fucking hilarious. I'd have offered him a scooter or walk.
Also, apologies for any rude/hateful shit today... I'm in a fantastic mood |
