Yamaha mt 09 test ride

Anyone had a go on the new mt 09 I took one out for a spin the other day to see what the fuss is about, I have a r6 now so was good to see how the engine was compared to the r6 . Mt 09 has a lot of power from downlow and don't really die at maximum revs , great bike for around the towns and sits at low revs on high speed roads, so a great all round bike. Got back on my r6 and it was so gutless at low revs compared to the mt 09 I was in 2 mind to part ex my bike for it , but I am more of a sports bike man myself so I thought I will stay with the r6, would love to see a engine work like the mt 09 in a sports bike . Who else as been on one and what's your thoughts?

The r6 is about as revvy a sports bike as you can get.
However, I'd also consider the total gearing.
The R6 probably has a closer ratio gearbox. But also probably taller overall gearing - quite possible if you down gear the R6, it will be a fair bit closer.

Usual suggestion; get a litre sports bike .

Get an R1, its like an R6, just for the lazy people.

Or get a GSXR1000, which has a reasonable amount of low down power .

yep agree with Paddy get an R1 and be lazy, you work mon-fri so why should you have to work when on the bike to get anywhere...

1st gear on the R1 is 90mph at redline, my R1 revs upto 13.5rpm and i only ever get it up to 7k rpm.....feels nice not to have to thrash it anywhere to go everywhere.

if you want a bike that takes flight when you open the throttle forget the R1 and get a GSXR 1000

if you want a bike that teleports you where you want to go get a Suzuki Hyabusa or Kawasaki ZZR 1400

the R6 is great bike fast bike but after you ride a litre it feels gutless when in reality it is not lol

Ride a Triumph Daytona 675.

Gonna see if they've got a demo available at the local dealers this week. Has got rave reviews (apart from the fuelling /throttle issue in a couple of the riding modes.)

Why can't manufacturers just have one mode that is spot on in the first place?
