I am both a cyclist (although mostly off road) and a motorcyclist and I can see the bikers POV there tbh.

I to get annoyed when dickheads don't stick to the left, and even worse when they have a cycle lane and are not in it!!!!

I'm a cyclist and a biker, and cyclists aren't obliged to "stick to the left" all the time. It amazes me how people see a horse in the middle of the road and slow to a stop (rightly so) and then see a cyclist in the middle of the road and throw abuse at them for holding them up. I think you need to commute through a city on a push bike for a few months and then maybe you'll have a more educated opinion.

I've found that quite a few cycle lanes, especially in portugal, actually have a far worse surface than the tarmac. When riding on skinny tyres, and loaded up with touring gear, I'll pick the smooth road over the lumpy cycle lane....

Is it bad to ride a pushbike like I would a motorbike, ie defensively? If there isn't enough room for traffic in my lane to safely overtake, I usually pull out to the right and block them like I would on a motorbike to stop them giving it a go.

A horse is also a wild animal and prone to erratic and unpredictable behaviour, comparing them to a cyclist holds no water.

On a motorbike, you will unlikely to be holding them up, and that is the crux.

Personally I try to be accommodating to cyclists, but a small few I just want to clip round the ear.

Ah; I see; in opposite-world all human road users are always predictable and never erratic?

The last part of the video shows him up more as it appears he has the authority to direct traffic, if the car he was waving at, ( you should never wave traffic on) had cut across him and he hit the car, there would be another video for that. The cunt whines about people not following the rules, then whines when they do.
I didn't see many life saver checks when he was doing the over takes either, so he doesn't look behind himself either. Cunt.

If you're out from the kerb then you've got room to play with if necessary whereas if you're hugging the kerb and someone comes past really close to you then you've got no where to go.

A cycle path near me is half the footpath but has a barrier on the road side so you have to choose one or the other at the start. Trouble is you get gangs of hooded yoofs on the footpath who seem to delight in filling the entire path for giggles, and don't get out the way no matter how fast you're going! I choose the road for that reason.

Cycle paths are shit for so many reasons!! Have a look at this page for some examples of badly designed ones!

edit: and some more...
https://homepage.ntlworld.com/pete.meg/wcc/facility-of-the-month/
https://www.cycling-embassy.org.uk/wiki/cycle-paths-are-poor-quality
https://www.flickr.com/groups/cyclelanes/

Sure, if you're wobbling about slowly then you don't want to be at the edge of the road but if you're wanting to cycle at a good speed then you can't do that on many cycle paths so you use the road.
