A 2 stroke will be the most fun to ride, with the potential for the greatest speed.

Think; Aprilia RS125, Derbi GP125, Honda NSR125

A 4 stroke might end up being more fun as you'll potentially get to spend more time actually riding it.

Think; Honda CBR125, Aprilia RS125-4, Yamaha YZF-R125

Cost-wise the 4T bikes will be cheaper to run but, in the case of the Aprilia and Yamaha, probably more expensive to buy right now.

Get the first generation of CBR 125, cheap, indestructible, easy to keep on the road. OR an 2 stroke, there are tons of SP bikes out there. Thumbs Up

Not sure but above CBR looks like an rw-6, if I'm not mistaken?

Problem with those is: extremely skinny tyres, and extremely small bike.

Its a RW4/5/6.

Nothing wrong with the small tyres and yes it is small if you are 6ft.

I wouldn't say its anything special, I've had 4, 3 of which engine trouble has occurred.

RS125 if you have the cash to spend on it constantly but if not the 4 stroke Derbi GPR125 is a good call.

I agree, CBR125 by default, unless you're a biggun.

However, the best bike is the best example of a bike. A workmate took a bath on a "bargain" Hyosung because nothing else would do and he bought the first one that came up in budget.

How old are you, what's your inside leg, your budget, what will you be using it for, and how long will you be keeping it?

Four stroke 125s are gay so if you're a butt pirate then they'll be exactly what you're wanting.

For everyone else, if you're want a super 125 then you'll be wanting a two stroke so the Honda NSR125, Aprilia RS125 or Cagiva Mito 125. You can then overtake the gay four stroke bikes and laugh at their slowness.

They chase-me-boys will catch you at the next petrol station, or when you're picking bits of the piston out of the exhaust. Razz

Feck that, even a DTR/X 125 will destroy them and they go 20K easily before a rebuild is a good idea. 2-strokes are the only cool 125's the 4 stroke are commuters and therefore uncool.

You've got ask yourself, do you want to ride or be a good mechanic? If it's suppose to be your the very first motorcycle, then I say, even though this forum will call me ghey, butt bandit and so on, go for the CBR, I think it's the cheapest Japanese 125cc bike out there and you will do many and many miles with no need of a spanner. You're gonna do just the usual oil/filter change, check and lube the chain occasionally and that's it.

IF you already ride, then go for a two stroke, because novice riders can't appreciate the power and characteristics of a fast 2 stroke and the moment they know a bit about how to ride a two stroke, the bike needs rebuild, they get pissed and that's how all those pub stories about shitty bikes are born. Thumbs Up
