I have decided that I am giving up high powered bikes!

On my way home from work a car pulled out on me and I hit it!

A car coming the other way ran the front of my bike over.

I have just come out of hospitals with brused ribs and I am finding it hard to breath with ease.

If I get a new bike I prob get a Motard or MX bike. The rear seems ok but the front is mangled to hell.

Maybe one day I will get another big bike but for now I think not.

Shitter. Hope there's some compo for you Confused.

Sounds like you need some new luck rather than a different bike.

Sorry to hear that mate. Sad

Believe me though, Moto's are just as easy to hurt yourself badly on.

Good to hear you're ok....
..... but less power won't make you safer, just slower, less visible and more vulnerable.

Some good advanced training will though. Thumbs Up

As advised before elswhere in this forum,

Try not to make any rash decisions about your riding career as soon as something like this happens. You were very lucky but there is nothing to say that the same would not have happened on a supermoto etc, and there is nothing to say that you would have been better off in a car!

Take a week or two to recover, and coupled with a healthy insurance payout you'll be fine! Smile

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

You said you were going slow speed to me on MSN, the same could have happened on a scooter or a busa... it's not the bike you need to blame, it's the dumb bint that pulled out on you and she would have whatever bike you were riding.

Shame to hear though, good job you are alright!

You're relatively alright, so that's the main thing. Give it a bit of thought while you're recuperating.

At least you're not thinking of jacking it in altogether! Laughing Cool

Why give up high powered bikes if it wasn't down to the bike that you had the accident ?

Motos are surely just as likely to get hit by blind car drivers.

Maybe take a break from the bike instead of getting rid off it straight away, or moving to different styles of bikes.

Very sorry to hear that. Hope you get well soon. Thumbs Up

This doesn’t relate to you/your situation, but there is a difference in having a fast bike and riding a bike, fast. So you can still have a fast bike, but just don’t always use it to go fast.

Advanced riders/instructors still have Blades etc, but they know how and when to use them, if that makes sense. Self constraint is the key.

My Penny Coin Penny Coin

I think this summer I will do some advanced riding lessons.

Dude, you seem to be having more than your fair share of accidents these days. Confused But at least you're making use of the tax that you have contributed to the NHS.

I don't think that it's about having a "big" or "small" bike, although from your first two lines, it can be interpreted that you may have a problem with restraining yourself from the throttle...but then there's sentiments that you were travelling at low speed, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Smile

Get well soon mate, then make a decision about the future. Thumbs Up

Also consider some advanced training.

They cover lots of things on predecting this sort of situation and being in a position that will give you the best chance to prevent it happening in the first place Thumbs Up.

Thats real crap man Sad

Don't make any rush decisions... nothing to stop you getting something a little smaller to get yourself back on the road either - a 500 say?

Damn sorry to here it Sad

Just remember, what ever bike you buy, there will always be the same risk of having an accident.. im afraid that is part of motorcycling

As said above.. wait until you have fully recovered.. You know what its like after a heavy nights drinking, you feel soooo bad, and you swear you'll never drink again... but you always do.. dont you Wink

Same with bikes.. you'll always love it, it will always be fun..
Take your time, think things over, and hope to see you back on a nice bike again. Smile

The reason Im saying High powered bikes is that they are more expensive to repair than a MX or Motard bike!

At least If I have an accident on one of them It wont cost much to repair!

I feel the urge to act silly on a big bike! I only doing bout 30-35 ish when I hit the car But as there is no damage to my jacket or the work trousers that I was wearing and lack of skid marks on the rd I can assume that I wasnt speeding as I would have torn my trousers and had lots of marks on my jacket!

A women said to the officer "You were next to me at the lights revving it up and you pulled away fast"

No shit! I an't hanging behind a car! but Revving my bike doesnt mean Im speeding! especially when the wheels ant turning!
