Hey guys..

Not so new driver for my age, 18 and a half years old, been driving for 2 and a half years, passed my A1 in January, car licence last year July,

I got stopped a couple of months ago by those 'Traffic Police' on Euston Road underpass for excess speeding of 51 in a 30.. I thought it was much less than 51 but hey.. they're police, what can I do..

I already have 3 points from 2011 and I wanted to know what I could do to prevent them from giving me more points resulting in a loss of my licence... maybe I can ask for a ban instead?

I really need my licence as I am a driver in central London as a career..

Please let me know your thoughts, the court date is still unknown

Thanks

Since you're on about past history, you could have got an AM license at 16 and been out of your new driver probation period by now.

There's no gentle way to say this, if you are convicted of that offence then your license is going to be revoked. There's no discretion. 6 points within 2 years = your license gets taken away, no ifs ands or buts.

The good news is that if you're not also banned, you can apply for a new license immediately and get on with going through your tests again. You can ride a 125 on L plates as soon as you've re-done your CBT, although let's be honest, the chances of you being caught are minimal as CBTs aren't (I believe) recorded on the ANPR systems.

And what you can do is to make the CPS prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt. To be honest, you'll get more specific advice at PePiPoo.

You'll be fine.

You have to score 6 points on your license AFTER passing to win prizes.

A family friend managed to get caught without license and insurance, she passed her test between being caught and going to court and didn't get revoked as the points were "on her provisional license" due to time of the offense.

Also, my CBT instructor told me his son had 9 points and hadn't been revoked as 6 were before he passed.

You said you did your car test last year and have points from 2011, therefore you scored them on provisional license and this will be your first 'score' on your full license.

Any penalty points on your provisional licence that haven’t expired will be carried over to your full licence when you pass your test. However, your licence will be revoked if you get any further penalty points that take you up to a total of 6 or more within 2 years of passing your driving test

You're screwed, and it's not a dilemma, it's just a lemma.
