Have you opened your carb up? Could have partially blocked jets, that or it's running a little lean. |
I can't say i'm technically capable of doing anything like that, you could be on to something there though, when I mentioned the juddering to someone at work that's the first thing they said it could be.
Is checking out/clearing carbs an expensive job do you know?
Cheers for the help BTW
EDIT: Oh also I take it running lean implies that there isn't enough fuel getting to the engine? is that something that can be tweaked by a spanner wielding moron such as myself? |
All pretty simple jobs even with very little knowledge. The mixture can be adjusted quite easily, but it's trial and error. Standard setting may not be right for your bike, it depends on altitude etc.
If you remove your spark plug you can tell by the colouring of it if it's running lean or rich.
Do you have a Haynes manual? I know some people don't really rate them, but for things like this it's really useful, The carb is simple and I found it really interesting the first time I opened one up. ____________________ CG125, SV650S, CBR600F, GSXR600 SRAD |

I do indeed have a Haynes manual, not that I understand most of it.
I thought about what you said with it running lean, so left the choke half on coming back from work, and 0-30 it definitely seemed a lot nippier, so think you're spot on with that one, thanks again!
Once I got above 30 it was still struggling a bit still at full throttle, so here's hoping you're right about the carbs too
I'm up in Newcastle, I'm debating putting it in for a full service at the place close to me, How much do you think that should run me? (Don't wanna get fleeced)
I haven't had one done in the 6 or so months I've had the thing so couldn't hurt. ____________________ The above post is most likely nonsensical.

Good thinking CG Sam, will see what they say.
Judging by the speeds you lot have been reaching, mine definitely needs a service of some kind then.
Thanks for all the helpful replies, I would buy you all a pint but I don't think I could make it to you on the dual carriageways with a top speed of 45... so Karma all round ____________________ The above post is most likely nonsensical.
