Looks very similar to what some company posted on here about a few months ago

Obviously they got a good BCF gang rape for advertising

So, as well as the billion things you're already concentrating on, now you can have a set of ever changing graphics, flickering away just out of your eyeline, because you can never have enough distractions.......and all for only 700 quid!

Brilliant idea Rolling Eyes

The one posted on here had built in sat nav, huge distractions either way on an already limited field of vision

No. It looks like it will be total shite.

Just like every other motorcycle helmet visor ever built in the history of time.

They (they = helmet manufacturers) have, to date, totally failed to ever make a visor that can be reliably seen through in heavy rain on a motorway. Why the flying fuck are they trying to make it tell you what to do and where to go if it can't even fulfill its most basic function of being see-through?

Slight paraphrase from System Shock 2 manual:

"CAUSE OF ACCIDENT: Called up navigation software which unexpectedly displayed in fullscreen mode"

It doesn't seem to exist yet.

Veypor sold a 'real' HUD unit that you could actually buy some years ago. Ok, it was just normal bike instruments rather than sat-nav.

Never did particularly well.

Not sure id like any of this visual gadgetry. A HUD of speed might be useful i guess, id of thought though rather than trying to faf with it visualising on the visor etc wearing something like google glass in the helmet would be far simpler and less obstructive to overall visibility being solely over one eye.

This.

I'd rather see cheap reliable visor wipers that look cool.

Also I imagine it would be even worse at night, the glare from it causing your pupils to shrink like your sat in a dopey HGV drivers full beam. You'd need a dimmer knob somewhere = even more distractions.

FUCK YEAH, OFFTOPIC! Dance!

Reevu lids have a system of internal mirrors (and maybe magnets, who knows) that gives a "vu" to the "ree[r]". Stuartt bought one recently, seemed to like it on first impressions.

They're talking about projecting onto that teeny strip at the top, which seems like trying to pour a gallon of gilding into a pint sized lilly.

I keep toying with the idea of getting one of their helmets - If it sits on the little strip at the top, I can't see it being any more distracting than driving a car and flicking your eyes up to see your rear view mirror.

I've been following Reevu on Twitter over the past year and the seem like they're really going somewhere.

The helmet looks brilliant, albeit extremely expensive (naturally).

a few days ago i put my old helmet on as my reevu had a tinted visor on & i couldn't be bothered changing it ! ( it was getting dark )

i missed not having the rear view mirror for the odd glance .

it's def a bad idea glancing up at the mirror when going a shade fast on the busa Very Happy

about a week ago there was a ambulance with its blue light on about 4 or 5 hundred meters behind me , i saw the flicker of the light in my helmets mirror . its got to be a good thing if it makes you more aware of whats about you .

it def doesn't mean you should stop using your bike mirrors Very Happy

usually i'll not spend more than a £100 ish on a helmet , i heard about reevu helmets ages ago but never bought one as there wasn't a dealer near me to try one on .

when i read online at 5.30 on a Saturday evening that there was a dealer in glasgow i thought i want one Very Happy by 8.30 i had one Very Happy

I've been meaning to go into bikes on parade to have a look at this helmet

I'd expect poor sales, followed by a shitstorm of legal claims for the accidents caused by the distraction it provides. Top tip: Don't invest any of your own money in it.

Do what Stinkwheel suggested (and quite rightly has on many occasions) and the biking world will beat a path to your company's door.

Google Glass (well, maybe V2 or V3) would probably be better than any visor-projected HUD system, although it's been intimated that the DfT are looking to ban Glass-type systems whilst driving anyway.

Google glass will be banned in the near future i suspect.

Also, what is more distracting, moving your entire head down to view your speedo or even your bike satnav on a tank bag/ headstock pin, or a 20 degree eye movement to look up for the same information? Rolling Eyes

If they could fit in forward and rearwrd facing helmet cam discretely too it would be the perfect helmet (assuming it is on par in terms of safety and comfort to its competitors)

Thanks for the feedback, I'll defo pass it on to the engineering guys, esp. that comment about visors!

Just want to clarify that Bike HUD is intended to work in your peripheral vision rather than be 'in your face'.

You can read the numbers if you want, but the idea is that you sense the colour change of the speed number/flashing tacho out of the corner of your eye. If you're coming to the Bike show at the NEC, you can try it out (albeit not on the road) - ping me if you're coming and I'll make sure someone on the stand takes care of you.

My only worry would be [doubt i'll be able to go unfortunantely to try it for sure] even if its in the outer areas of your field of vision anything on the visor tends to feel very close and up front, and having something moving or flashing would be a bit like having a fly crawling over your visor i'd of thought, would be constantly having the urge to try scrape it and wipe the movement away Laughing

But i guess you could get used to it given time Razz

Hope you get a chance to try it out Matt sometime or at least read a review in the press. I do know testers have really liked it.

In any case, do drop by the www.bike-hud.com site - there's a free prize draw to get one of the first Bike HUDs Smile

This may be a dumb ass question. As I have grown older I find my eyes don't like to change focus as easily. So if I was to focus on something as close as my visor my refocus time for distance is such that I would be kind of blind for a second. In that time my hazard perception would be drastically reduced. Am I misunderstanding how this works?

Not sure I have a need for all this info in my helmet anyway. I have a rev counter and speedo which tells me all I need to know as far as riding is concerned. I mini clock on my handlebars for my daily commute which tells me how late I am for work, not sure I need much else.

I know what gear I am in by the feel of the bike, I mostly know what revs and speed I am doing by the same.

If I want to know the time I can briefly look at my clock bought for 19.99 when I lived in the UK and survived 5 years so far.

I really dislike the idea of having an object blocking my vision introducing a blind spot.

Maybe I am just old fashioned (or old!) but even modern LCD instruments with multiple clocks and trip computers etc., seem a bit pointless to me. As long as I know myspeed, revs and miles travelled since my last fill up I don't care about anything else.
