If she wears leathers it doesn't matter about the leg length as they can be tucked into boots. Alpinestars are pretty good fit for ladies as are IXS. I bought some Hein Gericke textile trousers (I am also long in the leg and wider at the hips) and they are good lengthwise but rubbish round my waist. I need a belt to hold them up.

Basically stop browsing eBay and go try some stuff on. HG is ok to start but Helmet City near Biggin Hill is brilliant. There is another women-only bike gear shop that used to be in Hitchin but they moved a little further south and I can't quite remember where they are now. I will google it.

Shopping for ladies bike gear is a lot better now but can still be a bit of a faff.

So fat like me, grab a set of cheapy Akito or Buffalo textile trousers. They'll stay waterproof a fair while as you'll take the majority of the rain water anyway Thumbs Up Mine are adjustable from fat bastard to slim jim on the top and are 34 leg. I've had them since I was 19 and gained 6 stone since.

I love Richa Monsoon textile trousers, they come in so many different sizes, one is bound to fit her. Adjustable waistband too, so as to accommodate them hips.

She wants jeans, get her jeans, or suffer the consequences. I'd go Sartso or Hood though, I'm not particularly impressed with my Draggins.

Obligatory pics or GTFO.

I hate it when snails leave their mess on my bike seat. I'd be livid after that....

Whatever you get, she will select a size that is too small for her, be unable to wear thermals underneath and whinge about being cold.

Just let her get what she wants. Mention it would be a good idea to buy a loose fit to allow wearing of thermals under them ONCE and leave it at that. Do not be tempted to cast it up in future.

She will soon accumulate an entire drawer full of motorcycle trousers. All of which are too small (and were too small the day they were bought) and none of which are warm or waterproof enough. This is entirely normal female behaviour.

I've got sartso kevlars, hein gericke leather and rst textiles. I like my kevlars in the summer months, but in the cold and wet prefer my leathers - especially when riding pillion as it reduces the cold when it's windy! I'd deffo say go a size up - nothing worse than them digging in on the waist when you're sat on a bike for too long.
And there's nothing better than layers up top either! It gets mighty cold if you don't wear them - I can fit a hoodie under my jacket comfortably, and sometimes i wish i could have more!

Hood jeans are good.

Buy them big enough to fit knee pads and warm underlayers without splitting a seam. Apparently "boyfriend fit" is a real thing, pretend they are that.

If you get a chance take her into somewhere like Hein Gericke (as that's the only place I can think of that has decent ladies stuff in stock off the peg*).

Let her have a walk around and see the options.

* there may be other places, not sure what's near your location.

About the best jeans you could get safety wise...... So I'm told.

Should tick the style box.
Saying that, with the weather getting colder, sod the style and get some armoured textiles?

I have the ladies Bull-It Covec Jeans. They have hip and armour pockets and I have the relevant armour in them. If I need something waterproof I would throw on a pair of waterproof over trousers.

They do some decent cuts, both skinny and bootleg. I have the bootleg and they look pretty tidy.

I got my textiles from Hein Gerikke and it fits great, super waterproof and also have a removal thermal liner which is WELL good in winter. Long legs and big hips should be a good combo, it's when you have short legs and big hips, or skinny hips and long legs you run into problems. Most have an adjustable waistband of sorts and as long as the knee protection is in the right place then all is good (I ended up trying a pair on and then falling onto my knees in the shop to see if it hurt; it didn't Thumbs Up )
