Not for road use

Anyone got any helpful tips on how to remove the dreaded badge? Not wanting to screw up the finish though, the badge isn't etched on, so you can't feel it when you run your finger through it. Thought it'd deserve to be in general as you lot kick about in here.

P.s Attached road sound for dodsi or LH-ER5 if they're considering a different exhaust. It's kinda crap though.

You can buy stick on "road legal", BSXXX stickers, on ebay, put one of those over it.

Why do you want to remove it? For MOT reasons? If that's the case it won't pass unless it's kitemarked. The police don't give two hoots about a race can so don't worry about that. Even insurance inspectors don't care so don't worry about that either.

Most race can's don't break the SPL limit unless you are revving at the redline all the time!

As far as i'm aware it no longer needs ANY marks to pass an mot, provided it dosent say "not for road use" or "race only" then its legal, its down to the mot testers discression weather its ok or not...

Which is interesting since theoreticaly you could just get some metal pipe, stick it on the bike and then take it to a deaf mot tester, according to what ive read you would be perfectly ok???

To be honest i still prefer to have a road legal can, or at least one that is not totaly takeing the p*ss, on my trip to work its not unusual to go past horses with riders oblivious to anything arround them, trying to creep past with a drainpipe exhaust sounding like a drag racer would not do much good! On the other hand if your filtering through traffic then louder the better...

That will come of easy with a dremmel. Sand/grind it off then polish it out. Will never pass an MOT with there, but is fine without it. You don't need any kind of kite mark rubbish anymore for an MOT, as long as it doesn't say not for road use on it and the MOT tester is someone you know it will pass.

I did that on my exhaust.. Have some pics too. Do not buy one of thoes rivet on plates, as you will get in serious trouble if caught.

Ham, use Autosol, but first use a green pad all over the end peice, then autosol the whole lot. Job done

Firstly, drill the rivets out,

Sand, or grind the markings out,

Re-drill all the rivet holes properly as there will still be bits of it left,

My ZX-9 has a Remus race can on it. I bought it like it with a fresh MOT from a dealer. Some previous owner has polished out the 'Not For Road Use' markings.

When I got pulled by a bike cop he cautioned me for the exhaust - BUT he said as it has no markings it may pass an MOT if the tester believes it is "not excessively noisy". As it was he said he had no complaints about the noise so WTF was his point?? Not noisy, no markings, would pass an MOT....but yet he still cautioned me? FFS
