Just got one of these today https://www.luminaid.com/ I though it looked like a good idea for when I start my wild camping.

Anyone else got one of these and are they as useful/ good as they seem to be?

Seems a cracking idea. Certainly for the poor bastards in disaster areas.

Hmmmm? Thinking each to their own and all that?

Me , I tend not to take my bike or camp in disaster zones Laughing .

I take a head-torch and that does me fine.
I`m only ever out for a couple of night at a time, so batteries always last long enough Thumbs Up

A long trip (trans-continental) and that would be a good idea.

IMHO of course!

Avoiding disaster zones is a top tip.

I'll put that at the very top of my list.

Thank you. Thumbs Up

Petrol & a lighter is many times more fun than an inflatable light. Mr. Green

In fairness nothing will ever beat petrol and lighter. A man can never start too many fires. (Legally of course).

As above it seems neither 'good' nor useful.

Especially if riding a bike with a power system which can recharge batteries as you go - just use that Smile.

Seems a thumbs down for my gadget.

I don't suppose the fact that it can float is going to help change opinions?? Shocked

No need to answer that last bit.

Well on a more positive note I did my first bit of filtering today Very Happy . Luckily I didn't have an accident because I didn't have my new (floatable) light with me.

I actually quite like it.
Not so much as a first-choice light. But certainly as a back up when camping etc.

Certainly not my first choice light. I do have torch and headlight but bought this for the longevity of its charge without worrying about batteries.

I bought it as a space saving lantern I suppose.

Great - you can watch your light float down the river!

You could just stick a normal light in a waterproof bag sealed with some air in it?

There are loads of lights like those.

Most torches and head torches are waterproof.

I think it's a decent idea. I'd gladly try one out whilst camping.

However I wouldn't pay $20 for one as I could buy a torch for less to do the same job.

Looks ok. I usually shine a head torch through a water bottle for that lamp like effect.

I'd say try it...deffo good enough to light the tent etc and untill you use it small enough to charge under a tank bag top etc....just a handy gadget if it does charge enough to work every day!
