Hi,

I'm after some advice. I had a blow out, which i suspect was due to really old tubes becoming perished. (oops)

The tyres say on them that they are 3.00x17

I have Googled this and read a few things and I see this is also referred to as 17 x 300 and that in metric it is somewhere around 80/90-17 or 90/90-17.

Is there a good alternative to go for?

I'm not sure whether to replace the tyres and tubes or just the tubes. The tyres don't look too bad and if the tubes are new I think it'll probably be ok.

If I do replace the tyres I wasn't sure whether to go for cheaper ones or stick to a decent make. I only use the bike as a commuter in the dry and I don't push it anywhere near its limits.

Any recommendations or advice appreciated.
Thanks.
Joe.

Tyres are cracked and starting to perish. Replace.

Yes I think I agree. Not worth the risk is it.

Does anyone know what metric equivalents I could use?
