This is a pretty good example of why the current licensing process is inadequate. Sad

Ok Guys,

I have a Honda CBR 125.

When I turn the bike on the left side of my lights come on (always) there is no way to turn off (which I dont mind). Do I use the same lights for night riding?

Yes. You'll find that on a 125 they're generally shit and you wont see a great deal by them. If you're riding through town to a town destination it's not much of an issue, if there are street lights. Don't use your high beam, you'll piss people off.

In areas where there are no street lights and no other traffic coming towards you then you can use your high beam, but turn it off when there's a car coming towards you.

Mom lets him ride in the cellar and if he's got good grades at school, he can ride in the attic.

Back to the OP's question.

The lights that come on when you turn on the bike are the low-beam and rear light.

These are the lights you'll use 99% of the time, including riding at night.

The high beam is only for use in areas where there are no street lights, and there are no oncoming vehicles.

Don not ever ride around with your high beam on either behind other vehicles or when other vehicles are approaching you.

You need a new bulb for the right side. They should both come on. You can't generally find them in Halfords, I think I got mine from WeMoto.

Hi Maph3ers. Ignore the trolls, unfortunately they are here to stay and there's no getting rid of them. Well, one way maybe but it would be a lot of hard work and illegal.

I don't think there's a "parking light" switch on the CBR 125 (not that anyone ever uses them anyway they are too dim to be of any use) just low beam and high beam - more correctly called dipped beam and main beam. The headlight on your bike is probably set to be on all the time, it was the same on my old Honda Superfour.

● Use low beam for normal conditions.

● The blue light on the dashboard tells you that the high beam is on.

● Use high beam on dark unlit roads but turn it off when you see traffic coming the other way or if you get close to a car in front of you. It's tempting to use high beam all the time at night but it can dazzle other road users. Also, do not use high beam in fog at night.

To be fair guys when I first got on a motorbike I was confused by this too. As if the CBT addresses anything as useful as that... My CG has a switch position for lights off, driving lights and high beam. The CBR is the same but without the lights off option. Leave it as it is unless nobody can see your lights, then yo can use main beam. Unfortunately 125's dish out a rubbish amount of light...

I do not condone the arseyness.

However, this should have been taught at the CBT.
Pretty much any standard bike will work exactly the same in this way and this should have been explained too.
It is not unreasonable to say you this sort of knowledge is essential for using the road.

Either it may be worth the OP redoing it somewhere decent as they might have missed out other import stuff, or they didn't pay attention.

The fact that they haven't paid attention when positing a question might reasonably lead people to believe it was the latter for the original issue.

And yes, your main beam is there to give a better view when there's no one else around.
That includes pedestrians and cyclists too.

G, you do know how utterly terrible most of these CBT centres are don't you? Mine gave 8:1 student to instructor off road training; is that even legal? And as far I can remember all we were told is "there's the light switch". Coupled with some CBT bikes probably having an off setting as well I think it's easy to see how a new rider could be confused by this.

I completely agree with you that this knowledge is pretty much essential for the road, but whose fault is that? I'd say the trainers, not the trainees. Useless sarcastic comments aren't going to help the OP or anyone else either.

To be fair, most of the abuse on this here forum needs to be read in jest as most of it is tongue in cheek.

It is why BCF > All other motorbike forums.

Thumbs Up

If you are offended already then honestly, BCF is probably not your cup of tea.
