How very dare you make an insurance company work for their money!

Bet they thought to themselves "sod that!, he can piss right off"

Try the Tesco quote comparison site. I got a good deal with their quote of the day. Turned out with Just Motorcycle Insurance (which is Carole Nash online company). Was cheaper than that given on Just Motorcycle Insurance site.

Best of luck.

Although as I have said before insurance is really Just a random number generator.

Hmm, they did change underwriters this year and the prices went rocketing up. Thinking

Fairly simple. Comparison sites make them compete. If you're contacting one directly, they have a captive audience and are gambling that you won't put more time into trying elsewhere.

You're telling me that an insurance company would tell you not to renew with them because they're too expensive.

Shocked

The end is nigh!!!!

It could actually be something he said. Smart companies identify the 20% of customers who result in 80% of their costs (in this case, typing an email), and just give them the flick.

I've found that recently when I try to actually buy the policy I've been quoted through comparison sites, they amend the price by a few hundred pounds Confused

That seems to be a favourite trick of some insurers - the price on the comparison site? Well, technically you can have that price sir, but the £100 excess the comparison site listed is actually a £100 compulsory plus £500 voluntary excess, and only if you agree to sign up to us for house insurance as well .... oh, you don't want that? New quote, surprise surprise, it's more!

I have 6yrs NCD on one policy and 2 on another. Bennetts can't quote-me-happy. I will be with T' Bike Insurer on Axa's risk this year.

They are all a bunch of Fannies. I hope they are collectively reading this.

I think the risk is the problem. So little gain for so much pain (when they have to pay out) so only a few insurers are interested.
The brokers are like bees around a honey pot with that few.

Or it is simply all just a racket. Smile

No that is not correct.
They assume you want all the trimmings so you have to de-select legal cover and new leathers etc.
And if you are paying by instalments they will rape you for the pleasure.

I use comparison site for house, car and bike and the price in the result £££ is always the bottom line at the check-out.

It is entirely correct. I've experienced it several times.

Indeed, they do like to sneak some interesting "default extras" in there. thebikeinsurer actually tells you what you'll have to unselect to get the listed price though, I've not had a problem getting it yet.

I cant explain some of my quotes, like for example my first year on a bike bke, cbr600 only cost £200. The next year it then went up a bit rather than down?!?

I found its best to use a comparason site, then call up and sound interested in buying. Say you have to go and will call back later. Different phone operator, they want commision, will try to beat the earlier price. Frustrating process but I saved £200 like this off a £700 quote, which was the cheapest I could get online.

£103 a year for me 9 years protected no claims, I have never paid more the following year for renewing insurance even if it meant changing broker.

Even those that wouldn't budge much added extra's or lowered excess to as an incentive to stay.

I find humorous when insurers are declaring rising profits but when you call for a quote it's all "i'm sorry sir the increase is due to the credit crunch, it's not just us it's everyone"

Keeping your money in your pocket in protest isn't working either because they end up putting prices up to cover falling profits, so even less people can afford it.

I watched something recently about cigarettes, without tax and mark ups they would cost 80p for 20.

Whoever you decided to go with, use quidco and/or topcashback.

I got about 50 quid cashback from both on my last policy.

My Bike insurance is coming up for renewal soon.
3 years with ebike (Gold RoSPA qualification with no claims) and they sent me an email.

Policy Number: XXXXXXXXXXX
The above insurance policy is due for renewal on the 12/10/2013 at 23.59pm
Unfortunately our Underwriters are unable to offer you a competitive renewal premium.
Therefore you will need to arrange alternative insurance before the policy expires on the 12/10/2013 at 23.59pm.
We apologise for any inconvenience this matter may cause.

I was going elsewhere anyway because of their total failure to respond to repeated email queries but it still hurts to be rejected.....

I guess I'll be now recommending peeps to stay away from them.
When you get asked on your next proposal form if you have ever been refused insurance cover I wonder if that counts??

That's a good tip, I'd never thought of using a cashback website to buy insurance.
