Even though I will never come close to one of these I can't wait!

Along with this there will also be an 1198 Monster which should be fun. I think the SF has been dropped

Well at least you have to be invited to buy one of the 500, so hopefully the ones that are sold will be used as they intended, on track or road. But still, leaves me wondering why? As a technical exercise, great but the market for this type of bike at this price is small so why bother

I'm not usually one to bite back, but on a serious level why are you forever trolling people on their bike choice. You do it in most threads regardless of topic or relevance

Of course you have to be 'invited' to own one - easy way to keep the rif-raf out is to offer 'invites' to anyone who waves $65k under their noses first.

I'd still get last year's superbike from a race team.

Or go to NCR who will sell you a Ducati based bike with 145kg and over 200hp at the rear wheel. Or lighter versions with less power.

Because they can't win in superbike or superstock with the current bike. Make a new one and homologate a load of new bits to win hopefully. Same as Honda are going to do with a V4 superbike in 2015. Easier to make 500 of a super exclusive bike that you will sell every one of before they are built than pour millions into the current bike.

Isn't all marketing an invitation to buy your products?

I had forgotten the significance of the number 500 for motorvehicles.

I suspect a very good number will be bought up by other race teams - and in fact part of the invitation may be related to this.

They may well want people to be racing them, so they get extra data about any problems as well as solutions.

Thats an interesting point, id just gone with presuming theyd send a boy on a bicycle to do a paper round over hollywood throwing the invites over mansion walls Laughing

Wonder how the production cost vs sale cost compares with these versions vs the standard bikes. How much do you pay for the 'privilege' Rolling Eyes
