Any heating engineers can give me some advice? Please!

I got home from work today to find the house roasting hot as the wife took it upon herself to put the heating on (wtf?!) So i told her she was mad and turned it off, about an hour later i realised that the heating was off but every radiator in my house was still red hot despite my boiler not being lit and me programming the timer for the heating to be off at this time.
The timer had the hot water set to on, so i think my old siemens 3 way diverter valve is faulty.
The old one is a 3pmpv22 and i think the new one that is a direct replacement is acmv322???
Does this sound likely or am i just talking bollocks?

I'm no expert but I would've thought the radiators hold a lot of heat in them even without the water flowing through them...they'll take a while to cool down.

Er, I had my gas central heating installed about a month ago (shiny and new is my point!) and an hour after turning it off, they're hot but they're certainly not red hot. How hot are they really an hour later?

They were red hot which is why I thought there was a problem but the next time I checked them not long after my post they had cooled.
