Twice this week I have been behind someone driving a car when they think that it would be a brilliant time to 'clean' their windscreens. Most of the time I can let it slide with an angry undertake and a middle finger but this morning was something special.

Stuck behind some fat cunt in a Passat in an average speed camera zone, I'm just about to change lanes when his washers absolutely drench me in the strongest smelling windscreen wash I've ever encountered. Cue angry undertake and middle finger. I glared at the fucker and he looked at me with no emotion, no apologies, not even a gormless expression to highlight the fact he didn't have a clue what he had done. The fact that I could hardly see, was being suffocated by fumes and that some hippo had just assaulted me left me absolutely furious. I slowed right down in front of him and looked back once more and there was nothing, no apology, no recognition of how much of a cunt he was and all I could muster was another middle finger.

How do other people deal with these fuckers? I was 50/50 about kicking the fuckers wing mirror off but I couldn't work out the best way to do it in such a short space of time, kick, punch or otherwise? Or am I just overreacting?

The driver had absolutely no clue why you were giving him the finger. Seriously, it wouldn't even have occurred to me and I ride bikes. Windshield washer fluid incidents are way down my list of worries on the road.

Nah, bollocks. If someone walked past you in the street and squirted a fluid in your face you'd do something about it. Why is it not an issue when someone does it when you're travelling at 50+mph?

I don't even clean my car windscreen on the move if there's a car behind me because it might put them off and cause an incident. Highly unlikely but still possible.

Yes, on the path.

I'm on the road though... I get rained on, a bit of washer fluid isn't gonna kill me.

I sprayed my washers for 3 seconds today, feeling like a rebel now Laughing

I was helping a friend move house and following her to the old place. She was having a fag in the car and chucked it out the window, hit me on the boot.

When I got to her old place I feigned anger and she just said "oh, didn't even think".

In my case, and probably the OP's I think following too close was involved - there's no way you should be hit by debris if you're at a safe distance.

So that'd be in the dry a two second gap then Wink

On topic did have an incident a while back on the A63 towards Hull. Passed a Merc with the driver on his mobile. As I went past I gestured he should put it down. In hindsight this may have appeared to him like a 'wanker' sign. Oh hum!. He then made sure to overtake me (might have been an undertake) brake hard and then apply the washers that did actually go over the car. Guy was being a tit and and a dangerous one at that. There used to be traffic lights on that bit so I was able to filter to the front and get clear.

Difference is someone hasn't just walked past you and sprayed you in the face, they're cleaning their windscreen. Guy sounds like he had no idea wgat he had done at all, I do fucking hate it when you see someone look in their mirror, wait, and intentionally do it. Generally fat middle age men in 56 plate BMWs contemplating life due to how boring their job is and their failed marriage

I was out on a group ride when a Range Rover did this to me - I brake checked him but it all went downhill from there, so in future I'd probably just let it slide.

Average dozy cager action. Oh err sorry I didn't know you were behind me / didn't think / no idea what I have just done etc. No need to get quite so mad about a bit of water, do you pull over, start shouting at the clouds and making rude hand gestures to sky fairies when it starts raining?

Now if it was a fag end flicked out the window, I'd understand your anger.
Not only is that inconsiderate, and damn right dangerous. It's also littering.

But a bit of water/screen wash, I cant really see why it's a problem.
It's not really much different than a light shower of rain water, minus a slightly scented solution thrown in to the mix.

And you didn't stand up on your pegs, pull your kecks down and spray his wind screen with last night's dodgy curry?

Bad show lad...

When "God" makes it rain Ethanol, Ethylene glycol and Isopropanol then I probably will, not just because he'll have made it a lot easier for me.

I highly encourage anyone to try a delicious windscreen wash cocktail seeing as though "it's just a bit of water" Thumbs Up lemme know how it turns out for you Wink

Are you wearing an open-face lid? That might raise the issue higher on my list of things to worry about. It wouldn't be very high, mind you (a bee or wasp would be a lot higher), but I would understand your rage a bit better. I still wouldn't have a clue why you were giving me the finger.

So do you throw a brick through the windscreen of a car which has no mud flaps fitted and covers you in shitty road spray too?

I agree with others, it's not pleasant but the vast majority of car drivers would have absolutely no idea their windscreen wash sprays over the top of their car, or that it was in any way inconveniencing you.

Some do it deliberately though, you can tell which they are because they watch you in the mirror as they are doing it. By all means express your rage in this circumstance.
