If I was them, I'd have offered 10p.

Try with a Matchbox car next Smile

Sense of humour failure or could've somehow used it in their marketing.

Get a grip Adam.

Anyone ever noticed that crooks and scammers tend to be very brittle and defensive types? Thinking

Now, what are we talking about?

It's interesting they deemed that a "waste of their time". However when they sent me an offer of £125 in 2011 for a 2001 Fiesta Zetec with 12mths MOT in good working order, that was apparently not wasting mine.

It pains me to say it, but... my dad flogged his car (a relatively new Hyundai softroader) to them, and while I suspected he may have suffered some sort of head injury, it turns out that he didn't get too badly ripped off.

They offered a clear £1K more than the best trade-in he'd been offered. His Mate In the Trade just told him outright that there was no way he could match that, and he should go ahead and take it.

The collection monkey came out and spent the best part of an hour going over it looking for the slightest flaw, which is where I understand they make their money. In the event, he could find nothing, and while he was obviously miffed about that, he paid what they'd promised.

OK, he could probably have got a few hundred more selling privately, but only with the time, hassle and different sort of bullshit involved in dealing with private buyers.

If you're selling a very clean, newish car, it may not end in tragedy to at least see what they're offering. Well, as long as you're ready to tell the collection monkey to do one if he starts giving it "Oh, it's got the wrong sort of air in the tyres".

The original letter was faked by the person who tweeted it (he later admitted this when it went properly viral) - WBAC actually played along with it rather than threatening the guy with legal action. It's all 'out there' on the W double W.
