Couldn't see a thread on here, search function doesn't work, just takes you to a blank screen.

It's gone into receivership yes.

Basically there was a mid 1980's agreement regarding noise with the council. This was open to interpretation to a degree, so the circuit had been operating at an ok level, but within something of a grey area with their 1980's noise agreement. Since many complaints from a limited number of new residents to the area, the 1980's noise agreement has been executed to the letter. This means that Mallory now has a very small number of days when it can actually operate, meaning they've now gone into receivership.

It'll be sold for houses I expect, then the local population will baw about the lack of money being brought to the local area since the circuit closed.

The administrators say they're committed to bringing racing back to Mallory, but this is 1. BS, and 2. Not really their job.

I recall it in the paper a year or two back actually, people moving next to a race track then complaining about the noise...local residents been there for years love the place and thing it's brilliant

The noise agreement should have been better negotiated at the time, and Mallory haven't helped themselves by operating outside of it

Not saying the residents are correct, but from what I've read, I don't think the circuit has helped themselves....

Liberty! After Oulton Park this was my first track watching bike racing. Also the first circuit which I witnessed a fatality on the track during a race. Surely there is a solution to this? Be a shame to see it removed from the race circuit completely

The land owner has ramped the rent up to the point where the track can't cover it by sticking to their allowed days.

I imagine it's pretty much a done deal that it'll be sold to Barratt or similar who will cram it full of boxes.

Yeah, that is the other issue. IIRC they were trying to negotiate a decreased rent rate whereby they could continue to operate.

I read in one of the motorcycle magazines a while ago that many circuits around Europe were in trouble, the biggest name being the Nurburgring.

You'd of thought since the advent of the trackday there would be plenty of money to go round but obviously not. I know the noise thing is especially a problem at Mallory but then that seems to be the case at most tracks. I did a track day at Donnington in the summer and they were very very strict on noise and kept quoting the restrictions because of local residents.

I hope they can sort something out for Malory but hey if it has to go then new houses would be a great use of the land.

Thumbs Up

Currently for sale IIRC.

And they're making a new circuit in the middle of Wales, go figure.

Unfortunately, racing is a jolly expensive minority sport. If they all put football pitches on the infield they'd have more money than they knew what to do with.

At this point the best option is probably for some Russki or sheik oil magnate to buy it as a sandbox for his first born son to play in.
