Very cool visors

hi guys ive just bought a uridium visor for my arai it looks very cool 8) , it looks like a rainbow in the sun light and blocks out lots of light (including twats that put there lights on full beam because one light is dying) im preety shore it illegal though i got it from www.thevisorshop.com so have a look

The Iridium visors are sweet, but im gonna take a wild guess that they're illegal?

trouble with tinted visors is night riding, especialy when its raining it kills

yeah, all the irdium, mirror, black visors are illegal for road use. when it's sunny i use my black visor but usually carry my clear one incase i'm stopped by the police. i've been told that they're more lenient if you're prepared.
I'd NEVER go out with the illegal visors(at least the black ones) at night, it's plain stupid.

Why is it illegal to wear tinted visors in England? Sounds like the kinda bullshit law you would have in Ireland, but thankfully not.

Does that mean car drivers arent allowed to wear sunglasses aswell?!! 8)

the "no tinted visor law" is only used at night but they let you wear them during the day because you can simply swap your visor at night for a clear 1, thats why car drivers ar'nt allowed tinted windscreens because obviosly they cant change them at night.

the cops in northern ireland dont give a shit about them, never heard of them starting shit to anybody over here, i only wear my proper ogk black visor when the sun's out( not very bloody often then)....

I use a gold mirror one during the day pretty much all year around. Never been bothered by police as most of them have an illegal black tint (can tell as you can't see their face at all).

I even asked my examiner his views on them when I passed last November as he is an ex-bike copper. He said they are usually lenient compared to cars as they'd rather you be wearing an illegal visor and able to see rather than being legal but being blinded.

All down to discretion and common sense of the copper in other words.

Use a dark [illegal] tint all the time virtually unless night/fog riding etc.

Never had a mention. I think most forces treat them as acceptable unless its dodgy conditions, the only arguement against them really would be 'wear sunglasses instead' but realistically i find thats not always possible in most of my helmets the glasses dig in unbearably after about 30 minutes riding.

I take it iridium visors where just invented when this thread was created

I use a dark visor 24/7. At night I have it up with glasses underneath, though if the speed gets above a certain level I close it. I can see well enough.

use tinted visors 100% of the time, if it's dark/cold/raining I just flip my visor up and grin & bear. Plus it's a ballache swapping visors over.
