They can't predict the correct weather a week ahead, so how can they tell us what the winter will be like???

Given that they're utterly incapable of telling you in the morning what it will be doing in the afternoon, this kind of ridiculous scaremongering is quite hilarious really. Though some will believe it and probably run out and panic buy assorted crap they don't need.

You'd think they'd be able to drive in those conditions by now but judging by the crash video of them doing 100mph over takes in the ice they haven't quite mastered it.

Meh. Far greater threat to us all is the average Brits attitude to snow and inability to survive a light dust of sleet. Combined of course with alarmist papers screaming like headless chickens. Bring on the snow. My commutes nice and quick when everyone pussies out and stays off work.

Cheers

The people I trust say a bit cold and wet through November and December, nothing particularly horrific other than another winter in the UK.

This is the biggest problem.
I was in Italy last year when it all went to shit over here. On the news there were reports of school closures, road closures, people trapped in cars on motorways all while i was making my way over snow which was alongside the ploughed snow which was higher than the van, past the kids waiting on bus stops to go to school etc.

Get back to blighty and there was a massive fuckall compared to the rest of europe.

We need to keep the stupid panicky people off the roads in winter and then there is half a chance the roads will stay open.

The bottom picture is the entrance to a restaurant, rather than not open or spend all day digging out they used a side door. Over here the staff would stay away because of the 'danger' and it'd stay shut while the staff block roads with their cars in a desperate panic to fill their cupboards with bread and baked beans.

I wonder if I attached skis on framework attached to my crash bars could I ride the bike through thick snow, skid-pan stylee.

Annoyingly I live within feet of an Underground station that goes directly to where I work, but generally if the roads are that bad that I can't ride then the trains aren't running anyway!

You could do this.

But yes, on the crash bars should work.

Hmmm.... Thinking

I think it's just a standard headline they roll out around this time every year to sell papers, and on the off chance it's actually snowy that year.

And if they do get it right this year, it doesn't really bother me. I've got knobblies on the KLE and my route into london gets gritted every year anyway.

To be fair last winter was pretty bad.....felt like I was forever clearing my driveway of snow.
