hyosung 125 cruiser battery not being recharged?

hi all - im new to biking after finally doing my cbt and buying my first bike...a hyosung 125 cruise ...it ran fine for the first couple of weeks but in the last week the battery has gone flat twice....a friend of mine who rides feels that rather than it being the battery, the fault is the battery is not being recharged when the bike is running....

now, im not technically minded but am willing to learn...can anyone give advice as to what the issue might be and how i can rectify it? id like to ride it a bit more before i store it for the winter????

hi,
got a multi-meter?
if not, get one. even a cheap one can be had for £5-£10.
connect both leads from multi-meter to battery terminals & check charging circuit.
ie - when bike is running, whats voltage?
does voltage increase when bike is revved to around 5500rpm? if so, what to?

as above, but as a low tech test, with engine running and close to a wall with lights on, when you rev the engine to say 4k revs, do the lights grow brighter??

if not then system not charging......goto manual section and print one off.........check for bad connections, corroded connections........

these bikes seem to have a low output charging system but check i :karma: n manual.........

Test as above - a multimeter is a must for checking electrical circuits.

It could be something as simple as short runs with lights on draining more than the charging circuit has put back in. Only testing will tell you that.

Once you've bought yourself a meter, the next thing you might need is a motorcycle battery charger. If you do, get a smart one that can recondition as well as charge. Optimates are good and they come with a flylead that you can leave permanently attached to the battery for ease of charging.
