and i thought the carbon akrapovic exhausts for my R1 was expensive at £300 (which to be fair was a bargain but £300 on better noise let alone £3k)
those exhausts could buy a decent R1 or GSXR1000 flipping heck ____________________ Elen sila lummen omentielvo! |

The price of akra systems of Akra systems for KTMs is pretty shocking as it is but that is something else
The end can for my old KTM 690 is £500 new, which is about the value of my KLE To be fair I took it off once and it's about a million times lighter than the stock can, but I think that is mainly due to there being no cat in it. Sounded mint though ____________________ KTM 990 SMT & Suzuki DR-Z 400 SM |

I think with the twins, especially the 1199 its the pipe work that is complicated so I'm guessing that's the reason for the price.
Having said that Akra slip ons for my bike are like £800! And its literally just 2 cans. I just bought a spark half system for the same price brand new (although I got a good deal on it)
I think the desmo exhausts cost like 7k ____________________ Bikes : 2006 CBR125R - 2004 Monster 620ie - 2004 ZX-6R B1H - 2005 Monster S2R 800 - 2011 Street Triple - 2009 Streetfighter 1098 - 2014 ZX-6R 636

Well, it's not going to rust through in a hurry If I had more money than sense and needed to ride some ridiculous posemobile to bolster my fragile ego, no doubt I would also buy one of these systems. And probably lash out a few bob on a cherished plate too. And a power ranger suit to match the pipe ____________________ The RXS100: vehicle of choice for Chuck Norris |

Not technically as it's the same as a low-mid family hatchback.
The Penigale is not totally out of most peoples price range if you consider how much a car would cost that's on the same line |
Cars have a high utility value, and are not as easy to write off or substantially damage as a bike. And cars in this price range aren't usually bought for performance and so won't be driven aggressively (though an expensive bike may mostly be used for pose value).
Bikes, beyond the commuter basics, are essentially toys, and most don't see much mileage, even more so at this end of the market.
So net, after exchanging your cash, you're not as well off. You're taking a hit on the other things you could have spent that cash on (opportunity cost) without the benefits of a car.
To take it to an extreme, most people can "afford" really expensive wine, in so far as they have the money. But they can't afford to drink it. ____________________ Bikes: S1000R, SH350; Exes: Vity 125, PS125, YBR125, ER6f, VFR800, Brutale 920, CB600F, SH300x4
