Here's one for you...

If you had 3.5-4k to spend a you could get a tidy 06/07 gsxr or Daytona 675 which would you plump for?

Daytona. Just feels a bit more 'special' compared to the bland gsxr. Either will make you happy I am sure. If you get the Daytona, make sure it'd had it's rectifier recall.

I know what your saying, but surely that's just because less daytonas have been sold as it's a newer concept?

I do love both bikes, would love to hear from anyone who's ridden both?!

That and for my riding style, I found their engine to be a bit better 'for the real world'. I really think it'd just be between your engine preference. Haven't had a k6/7 gsxr but can't imagine they changed MUCH from a k4.

675 was very uncomfortable for me.

750 all the way. However I am biased due to having a 600.

Still personally think its a no brainer.

On a side not the difference between the k4/5 and k6/7 is main shape. K4 is a lot bigger but more comfortable.

K6 has a slipper clutch and radial break master. It's also a lot lighter and smaller which is apparent from the saddle

If you get the Suzuki then check it for anodized tat and the brake master cylinder recall.

I can't get on with the riding position on the daytona triple though, so I got a Street instead, love the triple engine Cool

If I can only have one bike it'd be the GSXR.
If I had a car or commuter/tourer as well then the Daytona.

I suppose it's a bit of a moot point though, because I wouldn't buy a £4k bike as an all-year-round machine.

So the 675 pretty much wins out.

675 is pretty bland too, I'd say - just skinnier bland!
The engines aren't actually too far apart I reckon, just the 750 is a chunk faster, of course.
675 definitely a lot prettier.

So; depends on how easy you want your speed to come, I'd say.

As a Daytona owner with experience of a k7 750, Daytona all day long.

Have a look at this for my experiences:

In fairness G, you think everything short of a KTM EXC is bland! Twins, your bland GSXR1000 commuter, everything.

*I mean you tell a non biker you have a daytona they won't say, yeah I know someone with one of them, but GSXR everybody knows someone with one

GSXR K7 every time. It certainly isn't bland, that's total bollox! If you think it is bland you are not riding it properly.

Two mates have ridden mine and both gone and got themselves a k7 within a couple of weeks. One was on an R1 and the other was on a 675. Neither have looked back.

I live on mine, town traffic, motorway rides with luggage when I have to, and the more sporty playtime and find it fine in all. That said, I would have thought the 675 is as good at all those two.

My only direct experience was my mate changing from 675 to K7 and never looking back or regretting it. Both epic bikes though.

add..... in fairness to those saying it is bland mind you I suppose it depends on what your definintion of bland is. But the k7 ridden hard gives you a fantastic ride where you can be left grinning for hours afterwards, and no I dont for a second that I am remotely close to ability of some of the guys on here, but I am not bashful or shy when riding and it keeps me happy.Keeping up with bigger faster bikes, knee downs all over the place, wheelies on private roads. etc. I dont see how any decent sportsbike is bland to be honest but thats not staying on topic so I will shut up.

Erm, I found both 300EXC and 144XC (a converted SX) pretty bland engine wise Wink.
The two 'interesting' KTMs I've had engine wise werean 87 350 enduro (no pwoervalve) and a 200EXC. I wasn't entirely convinced that the 200 wasn't actually set up with SX engine stuff.

Early R6s - fun. Similar age other sports 600s, not too bad. 250cc 2 stroke road bikes - usually pretty good.
Hell, the Ducati 1199 looks pretty peaky too.

The early R1 has a bit more life to the engine, but the GSXR I chose specifically because it was blander - I wanted easy to ride, not precise gear changing to get the desired go.

I would lean towards the 750 (for looks mostly but also riding position after sitting on a few at the NEC last year).

Was a bit underwhelmed by the 675 after having a go of an 09 example, I did like the engine somewhat but felt I would prefer the Street Triple more (personal preference for nakeds and the riding position offered) but only as a sort of summer/weekend toy, I just see the GSXR as a more usable machine all round.
