Howdy folks.

The time has come to unleash the full compliment of horses from the bike. The garage has quoted three hours labour at £60 per hour to remove it and that just seems ludicrous. I just wondered if anyone has an easier way than stripping bike down or a walkthrough guide to getting it off?

As far as I am aware it is just a kind of fork shaped plate that restricts the throttle at the engine end.

I can appreciate this may not be something people wish to publically post about online so I don't mind if it goes to PM.

Many thanks.

Carlos.

Tank off, air box off to get to the throttle bodies, then remove the L shaped piece of metal blocking the movement of the cam at the throttle body end. That's assuming there's nothing else different, I.e. inlet restriction, or a different throttle cam, or ECU.

I'd be a bit surprised if there wasn't more to it than just a throttle stop, restriction washers in the inlet rubbers for instance.

If it is an official Honda kit, I'd be tempted to call a Honda dealer for a price on a new kit, then ask what bits it contains. Or ask the guys that quoted 3 hours what work is involved.

When I took mine out fof my Hornet I thought it was a bigger job. But as people told me, tank off, airbox off, carbs disloged and restrictors out. Took no more than a hour for myself.

Managed to get the bolt for the plate out without stripping the bike down but having trouble getting the plate out without stripping the bike right down... Looks like strip down it is, can't have the plate rattling about in there :/

Hoping it'll just fall out on the way to or from work tomorrow. Why are the seemingly simple jobs always the biggest ball ache?
