Good morning,

I have measured my tread depth on my sv which is straight forward but slightly confused on something .

Basically It is fitted with a race or sport tyre as pictured below ( I don't think it is a street tyre)

https://i.ebayimg.com/t/CONTINENTAL-SUZUKI-SV650-S-REAR-160-60-17-MOTORBIKE-MOTORCYCLE-TYRE-/00/s/NDMwWDQzMA==/$(KGrHqN,!qUE-Y4hHTMcBPtf9RO3lw~~60_12.JPG

I measured it in the center and it is 4 mm which is above the 1 mm limit. on the sides it has around 7mm or almost as never used. This is because I do a lot of street and highway riding as opposed to cornering etc ( track days)

Also when it is time to change, what type of tyre should I get if I am mostly doing street riding and some track days ? touring ?

The picture looks like a normal tyre to me. Certainly road legal.

And buy the tyre that you spend most of your time riding like.

If you spend most of your time touring, get a touring tyre. I won't be as good on track as a sports/track tyre.

If you spend more time doing fast road/trackday stuff, get a sports/trackday tyre. Mileage won't be as good though.

If you spend most of your time commuting, with the odd spirited road ride, then get road tyres. Like the Dunlop Roadsmart.

It's about you being honest with your own ability and the type of riding you do.

The "all round" tyres I'd now use are the Diablo Stradas, discontinued, but places offer sets in my size for £150. Worked on the R1 through Spain, didn't even appear worn after we returned from 2500 miles... superb tyres.

For race type stuff, I'd stick to the supercorsas that I've been used to for a while.

PR3's will do everything you want really. It's always a compromise.

Review by me...

The only thing I found is the front feels a little vague compared to an out and out sports tyre in the dry.

Diablo Stradas are 'ok' but they take a while to warm up, no contest in the wet vs PRs though, but £100 cheaper.

Word-for-word this (well, replace "R1" with "Thundercat" and "Spain" with "Germany").
