Hi,
I'm 17 years old and new to riding a motorbike and I have a 13 plate pulse adrenaline 125cc (yes its Chinese I made a big mistake), I have an weird electrical problem, my head light doesn't work when I switch it on the side indicators come on solid but when I pull the clutch in (in neutral) my indicators turn off and my light comes on normally. my dipped light works fine still but when I indicate right my left indicator and dipped light start to flash. I only brought the bike as a form of transport to work and now the head light is messing up in the winter time I need to get it fixed. I have had people who ride bikes say it could be to do with the earth wire or the switch gears. I don't have a clue about earth wires on a motorbike any Pointers would be appreciated? and If it could be a switch gear what one? (the on off switch) or (the dipped and full beam switch).

also forgot I have changed the bulb and dealer wont help me even though bike is meant to be under parts warranty

Thanks in advance for helpers

Sounds like bad earths to me as well. Surprising on such a new bike but not impossible. I would start inside the headlight, take it apart and see if there are any wires connecting to metal bolts (generally the headlight mounting bolts). If there are, make sure they are clean and not rusty or corroded and the wires aren't damaged.

You could also try getting some jump leads and connecting one between the negative of the battery and the negatives of your lights/indicators. This would prove whether it's an earthing issue.

First thing I'd do is take the tank off and the seat. Then unplug, clean up and re connect as many connector blocks as you can see. I spray mine with WD40 scrub them with a toothbrush but put a load of vaseline in the connector, that fixes a lot of electrical problems and will keep water out in future and is fairly quick and easy to do.

so you have been inside the headlamp........loose connections and clutch cable when used moves wires and make and break contacts in there????????

bike is under warranty so take it back............if you have buggered someting then its not the dealers fault or the bikes.....so he may charge you the earth......but if he's a good dealer he will want to protect his dealer name..........be prepared to pay and be nice to him and try him again.........if still no luck...come back.

i presume the bike was working perfectly when you first had it and only started to play up since yopu have been in there????? how old is the bike and how many miles have tyou done on it...it was brand new rather than second hand??

Any particular reason why?

Who is this dealer?

You should be covered under Sale of Goods act whether there is any other warranty or not.

It does sound like an earthing problem and that's the first thing I'd check. Chris' suggestion of cleaning and protecting connectors is a good one too. If you're going to be doing electrical fault finding and repairs then invest in a multimeter (around a tenner for a decent one) and learn to use it. Thumbs Up

Thank you everyone for replys means a lot,, bike has only done 2000km so don't understand this problem,, and dealer doesn't seem to care as they say my bikes not under warranty as they received service slip 10 days after the second service when I sent it first class straight after it's service,, but they say they need to received it within 7 days,, I have checked the wires behind the headlight and they all seem fine I disconnected them and push them back in checking for rust or corrosion,, looks like it's going to be a Saturday job taking plastics and tank off but going to buy the handle bar switch as a back up as looks like someone has shoved a screw driver in it as plastic on it is cracked,, will let everyone know how it goes. Thanks again people Evil or Very Mad

I'd be checking that.
Where does it state those conditions?
Have you looked at the pulsemoto.co.uk site and contacted them?
The pdf for terms and conditions is here. See section 9.

Appears part of Lexmoto and if they really want to build up a credible reputation* then having dealers who couldn't give a damn isn't going to do that.

Ask and thou might receive. Do nothing and you're certain to be screwed over.

Thumbs Up
