I used to be suicidal til i nearly killed myself. Now since i lowsided my bike on mud in the road, i have no confidence and hardly any trust in my tyres, so every bend is taken very slowly. anyone got any advice for me?

Go round the same corner/round-a-bout/strech of road that you find tricky, conciously going faster than you normally would. The trick is confidence - stay calm, don't get too excited/scared and just go for it. When you've done it once, you'll get better and better. I had the very same problem after a near death crash in the summer.

It justv takes time and a bit of balls really Smile

As most people

Before huge crash - Suicidal, no care for limits, wheelies from traffic lights, you name it Smile

Post huge crash - Within or close to speed limits, no supid stunts and tricks unless it's off the road.

I stoppie up to every set of lights, burnout while waiting for tehm to change, wheelie away from them, get my knee down on the next roundabout, take her up to the redline in 4th, approaching 130 I maybe pop another wheelie and speed up for the oncoming sharp bend left hander and maybe ride with one hand the rest of the way.

I seldom travel at the speed limit anymore...I know where most of the laser traps are usually set-up and just slow down for those areas Razz. But if I do exceed the speed limit, I'm talking 10-20 kph average, though I've been guilty of a few 125 kph runs on occasion Wink. The thing is, the speed limit island-wide is 50 kph max, which for bikes is just too slow. I can see the speed limit being reasonable in some areas, but because it's island-wide it includes roads that can easily be taken faster while still being safe.

Mind you, I don't live in the UK, where it seems much more dangerous to ride. In Bermuda, motorcycles and peds are very common and car drivers are always on the lookout for bikes. I mean, you filter up to a set of lights, cars moving over slightly to help you fit past, and the car at the front has left 6 feet for bikes to pull into the front Thumbs Up. I feel truly spoiled when I read about cagers in the UK!

'Within my limits' is the best description for me.

The speed limit for me doesnt apply less i am in a town with likely coppers/gatsos, or i am following someone else who is doing it.

Dont see the point of sticking to a certain speed when i would rather ride as fast (or slow.. but mostly fast) as i consider safe. Then at least if i get it wrong its my own damned fault Laughing

Usually i would totter around the 80-90 mark on most roads, if i know them to be good then a little higher. But nothing i cant handle especially if its turning twisty on me, knee down, wheelying, stoppies etc will all have to wait till i get a bit more used to the CBR.

Although there has been one occasion so far i was in a damned upset/angry/suicidal ride.. but even then i didnt do anything foolish, just rode a bit harder than i might otherwise.

Not being fully comp insurance keeps you calmer i reckon, cause its my x-mas thats ruined if i crash.

Mostly legal - but occasional naughty.

That one probably describes me best. I tend to be a safe rider 90% of the time. Will always ride sensibly and not do any daft maneuvers, but on the odd occasion, I'll do the silly thing.

Think my biggest problem is undertaking slow cars in the outside lane, out of frustration. Its there to overtake, not go slow! Mad

I'd like to enjoy bikes for a long time yet, so its best not to do daft things.

Ride safe everyone. Thumbs Up

I ride how I feel comfortable, sometimes fast, sometimes normal. Depends on how alert I am that day. As for wheelies etc not learned all that stuff as I need my bike for work and can't affford to be wrecking fairings etc. I leave silly speeds (100+) for dual carridge ways etc.

I stopped riding like a tw*t in town when sold the 125. Odd.

I'd say 90% of the time I'm a safe driver. But I sometimes do naughty things out of frustration.
The only naughty thing I do that I can think of right now is going threw a few rid lights. But like I said I am usually a calm but alert driver and ride as I see fit.

I usually ride legal when in built up areas, and when get to fast dual carriage ways will "fast" cruise around the 80-100 mark, twisty's are negotiated as fast as I see safe.

I only usually open it up when I get the typical BMW/Mercedes driver sitting on my arse, I just like to dispel their belief that their car is the fastest thing on the road.

Similar here. Think because with a 125, you make up ground in towns because when you're on the motorways you're buggered. With a bigger bike you've nothing to prove.

He says when he goes 50 down the road towards town daily...warms the bike up quicker! Warm bike, safe bike. Honest officer!

Thats like a time I was running rings round a GXSR and Fireblade wondering why they were doing 30 round an easy 50mph roundabout. In the end I decided they had nothing to prove unlike me determind to run off the side of my tyre.

I rode the NSR like an Idiot until one time; riding with a mate, both riding like loons, trying to GMKD etc, he slid out on a drain cover and I almost crashed trying to avoid hitting his bike. Was a bit more conservative until I became bored, went round riding and eventually GMKD, only to crash a few seconds later on the way back up.

Now under a police warning, I'm keeping it sensible until my 1 year warning expires Laughing .
