Well it is getting to the sprout season and I had my fist ones tonight. I hate the over boiled sprout of my youth and like them firm, tried this tonight but without the honey The cooking time seemed far to short so I gave it a couple of extra mins but they still tasted uncooked to me.
How do you like yours?

I'd rather they were undercooked than overcooked but I'll eat them any which way.

They're the queen of the green veg. Asparagus is king*.

I'd rather they were left in the ground to rot. Evil tasting rubbery parcels of satans farts.

I would love to like them but ive tried so many different ways of cooking them with the same end result. Nausea.

I just boil them, then roll them around in some butter and salt in the pan and serve them. The bacon thing is new to me.

1 (500g) bag Brussels sprouts, ends trimmed and yellow leaves removed
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Method

Prep:15min › Cook:45min › Ready in:1hr

Preheat oven to 200 C / Gas mark 6.
Place trimmed Brussels sprouts, olive oil, salt and pepper in a large resealable plastic bag. Seal tightly, and shake to coat. Pour onto a baking tray, and place on centre oven rack.
Roast in the preheated oven for 30 to 45 minutes, shaking pan every 5 to 7 minutes for even browning. Reduce heat when necessary to prevent burning. Brussels sprouts should be darkest brown when done. Serve immediately.

I fast boil them for a couple of minutes, chop them, then fry them in butter with a few bacon pieces some chopped shallots and garlic!

I then throw the whole lot in the bin, saves having to eat the ghastly, evil, little fookers! Sick

They are quite handy in the garden for keeping the cabbage whites off the purple sprouting broccoli but they compost fine without cooking them.

Pro sprout tip - I always cut a cross in the base of them so that they don't stay too tough when boiling.

Oh and buy them on the stem, never EVER loose. Only a total sprout n00b would buy them loose.
