Hello, I want to get a 600cc bike and turn it into a stunt bike, which will probably not be road legal. My question is do I need a licence, MOT, and pay tax if I will ride it ONLY in places like empty/closed parkings and places where there is no cars or people? Just to practise stunts.. Question

They might not be considered private, so yes.

You'll also want to go to specific closed circuits.

Where are you from?

Probably an idea to get your bike licence really, but even with that, stunts are pretty much looked down on when on the road Laughing

Im from Winchester, and I can easily go around Eastleigh and Southampton. There is a problem with the licence, im 17 soon getting a 125 to ride on road, and that's why I wanted a 600 to stunt in private areas. To get it licenced I will have to wait till im 19, and still it will have to be restricted :/

You can use private land but it is not as simple as it sounds.

You would need something like a airfield for example, privately owned and not accessible to the public. This probably requires payment to be able to do it.

In terms of finding some wasteland etc. How would you get it there? If you can access it then so can the public and this is where the police can become involved if someone objects to you doing it and or does not like the sound of you ragging your bike interrupting their sunday lunch.

Hmm what about places like country roads? By that I mean one of those narrow roads that go through fields and farms without people walking there, and maybe a car passing by every 10 minutes, I mean I don't think the police ever goes there

Most retarded thing I've read all day.

Even with forgetting all the legal aspects (of which there are many) for a minute and think...

- Narrow country roads for stunts. What kind of stunts, riding in straight lines?! You're limited yourself to wheelies/stoppies with no room for maneuvering.

- Slippery from nearby fields mud/cow shit/stones/gravel

- These could be 'green lanes' which are still roads

- How will you get the bike to and from these magical country-lane-stunt-havens?

Not to even mention that the cars passing by every 10 minutes mean 6 every hour.. and the fact that you think police don't go there. They certainly will be when 6 cars every hour complain about some young hooligan with a non road-legal motorbike hooning up and down the lane.

Just.. words.... fail to even express the stupidity I'm trying to comprehend here.

Just get a license.

No no, there is a country road near where I live that is not very narrow, but all im going to practise at the moment is straight wheelies anyway, and there actually is enough space to turn round, there is no gravel, stones or cow shit on that road (never seen any) and never seen police on there ether.

and I can get the bike there using a van

But you hit a car/cyclist, that is probably instant life fuck up. Especially at a young age.

Do CBT, buy a DT125 and use that for wheelies down there.

Are you sure it's not a green lane?

And are you sure you want to keep spelling it 'practise'?

Laughing

I take your point, but if I do get a 125 to stunt on, I don't want it to be a dirt bike. I was looking to get a Yamaha r125 - but is that good for stunt? I could eventually buy 2 125's and use one of them for stunt but which one do you recommend? (sports looking one)
And sorry for spelling mistakes, im not English.

R125? They don't have the best rep round here anyhow.. and why 2 bikes now?! Best I've seen for stunts (on the net) is the KTM Duke 125. However it's still a fools effort.

I don't know it might be a green lane but what do you mean by your second sentence?

No 125cc sportsbike is good for stunts. I think you are getting muddled between 'stunts' and 'popping an occasional wheelie'.

Just stop now. Put the keyboard down and have a panda pop or whatever you kids drink these days.

If it's a green lane then you need fully legal.

'Practice'.

The DT125 is the best bike for you I reckon... it wheelies and stoppies.

The R125 is too slow and when you drop it, £2k of damage. Laughing

?? I think I do know the difference, but to get good at stunting, you want to get used to wheelies right?

Yes you need a Licence.
I would reccomend one issued by the ACU
Probably a Youth Trials Licence.
No test, just A Parents signature on the application form, & the secretary of an accredited club.
You want to do stunts?
You want to do wheelies?
You want to learn all the tricks?
Go try School-Boy Trials.
BUT, even there, you are only allowed a 125.
Difference is, that a Youth 125 Trials-Bike, will, for all it will probably still make less than a CG125, it will also weight barely more than a crisp-packet, and is geared so low it'll wheelie on the throttle in the first four gears.
Go do it in organised events; costs about £5 per entry for a Days riding, and pence in petrol.
Insurance is included in your entry fee, and the club organisers make sure that the land is legal to ride and keep the feds and numbys at bay.
Go google it.
Start at www.acu.org.uk, they have a list of all affiliated clubs; pick a few in your area, go look at their web-sites.

FORGET the thought of pratting about on a 600.

I started trials at 15 umpety years ago; it weighed about 70Kg, and despite being a fairly fit teen-ager, and not unnaccustomed to hard graft working in the building trade to fund my obscession with bikes; I struggled to wrestle even that fly-weight for any sustained length of time; lightests 600's are over twice that mass... I seriousely doubt that you'll have the physique, let alone the technique to muscle one about; and on your own? On some bit of waste-land? Pratting About, trying to learn the hard way from your mistakes... or as we call it 'CRASHING'... I fully envissage you hopping around yelling "Shit that hurt!" a lot, and HOPING the cops come along 'cos so some-one else will pick the bike up for you!

Seriously, THAT is what 99% of stunt riding is... picking up an unco-operative, and frequently bent bike off its side!

Looks cool when they get it right.... but they spend a hell of a lot of time getting it wrong, before hand, looking decidedly uncool!

You can do your driving test and get a van to carry the stunt bike around in?

Have a look on stuntlife as you might be able to find details of places nearby that you could go to ride. https://www.stuntlife.com/forums/435-united-kingdom

Practise is the verb. Practice is the noun.
