The movie for 2015, how is that going to work then? Judging by what I saw from Man of Steel, Batman is gonna have his ass handed to him Laughing

I never really understood the argument of this battle. Superman is an alien who can fly at super speeds, hits harder than a train and can freeze your ass or burn it up with lasers. Batman could only win with Kryptonite. Which he would have to have in advance of course, but even then superman could just fry his ass at a distance, or x-ray vision through batman's mask and go kill him in his sleep.

If Batman struggled with Bane and the Joker there is literally no contest.

Superman is a dick.

Counter to the counterpoint: Batfleck, therefore who cares?

I agree with Rogerborg on this. Superman is a dick. Batman made an oath never to use firearms in his crime fighting, and here's Superman forcing him to take a gun and kill people even though his parents were killed by an evil gunman.

Superman is a dick.

Didn't Batman kick Superman's butt when they did this in the comics?

Superman has strict morals. Batman, less so.

Supermans downfall has always been his morality and unwillingness to sacrifice the innocent to save himself or achieve the main aim.

The goddamned Batman has no such problem. He WOULD run over kittens with the batmobile if it suited his purpose. He would also arrange for there to be kittens in the way if he was facing superman because he's aware of his weakness.

Batman would quite happily torture information out of someone. Superman wouldn't

Isn't there some part of the early Batman mythology where he proclaims he's never going to kill or use firearms?

It's going to be a disappointment just as man of steel was.

i wish both didn't have Zack Snyder involved in them.

There was certainly something in the "Gotham Knight" animations where he invented an electronic device that deflected bullets and decided not to use it in case it deflected a bullet into someone else.

In the "Dark Knight" film he showed a refreshing lack of compunction in dropping a maafia boss off a building, breaking both his legs to find the joker.

So how does Kryptonite work to weaken Superman? Why are there different colours?

It emits a 'special' radiation that only folk/cunts from from Krypton are scared of.
Generally in the wavelength region of 37 Exahertz (or >3/8" of an inch above pie Hz),

It actually has very limited effects on most humans, as can be seen from the popular tv competition from the 70s.

The thing about Superman though is...

... He's shit. He's complacent. He has no skill. He didn't work for any of his abilities. He's boring, dull and unworthy of his powers.

It's too easy for him to laser beam the bad guys, or freeze them with his breath, or fly away or stand in front of the hostages and deflect the bullets. It's boring. There's so little actual peril that they had to invent kryptonite to create some. "Oho, here we go they've wheeled out the old 'kryptonite' gag again this week?"

Yawn.

Batman on the other hand, he's got emotional turmoil. He's got hard earned strength skill intelligence guile and cunning. If he and Superman had a fight, superman would Laser beam his ass into next week, so he'd go back to the Batcave and use his exceptional Science and Engineering skills to create synthetic kryptonite out of which he would fashion some new batarangs. He'd then blend into the night like a ninja, and shuriken 'ol Supe's backside with them. He could probably even use his computer hacking skills to work out that Clark Kent is just Superman with black hair and glasses. That would be awesome.

It isn't just Batman that is better though. Take Spider Man. Sure he has the powers of a spider, including strength, speed, sixth sense and the ability to cling to walls. Those abilities did not come naturally to him though, he had to develop the ability to use them over a period of time. He's also got pretty normal human intelligence but holds science degrees from NYU. He studied for his degrees all while fighting off the Hobgoblin, the Green Goblin, Doc Ock and various other nasties.

Put simply, Superman is the worst superhero ever invented.
